Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

Imo they don't look good and doesn't capture what African Painted Dogs look like irl with the fur and patterns.

Also forgive me if im wrong but they have zero pattern variation
To cut the African wild dog some slack, it is a base game animal. I think if it was slimmed down a bit it'd be a huge improvement, plus make the ears smaller

Theres so many animals in other nations like a Cameroon Animal Pack with a scenario in Dja Reserve with animals like Honey Badgers, African Bush Elephant {Updated Elephant}, Rock Hyrax, Common Duiker, African Civet, and more. Another one could be a Canada Animal pack with animals like Trumpeter Swan, North American Porcupine, Canadian Lynx, Mountain Goat, Elk, and more.
While theorically any nation could have a pack, there's a difference between countries like Brazil, Canada and China which the avarege person from other places can at least say where it is against places like Cameroon and Cambodia which most people don't even know much about.

In other words, some countries are marketable, others aren't
Any Nation can currently work its just that Frontier doesn't want to do Nation Countries probably as once they open those doors everyone will start asking for their own country to be represented.

Considering that Australia has been around for years, i don't think people will go feral about other countries not having a dlc after them.

People think Canada is apart of USA and Brazil is just "Amazon." Use you're theoretical judgement on whether a pack is deemed worthy we can cross both of those out only leaving China. You could include India due to the fact that so many people are racist online towards it.

Because Australia had kangaroos and koalas that people love and is worldwide accepted. One country that has a main focus with animals that doesn't have much popularity and you're about to see a bunch of people who aren't on the forums flood Instagram and twitter.

But people still know these two exist and know that Canada(also gonna have to contest ya statement, i never saw anybody confuse canada with an USA region, in fact most people seen to know they are neighbours at least) is on NA while Brazil is on SA, and you've proven that people can even name an aspect of those countries. Meanwhile try to get any information about Suriname from most people.

I think it's more-so that Australia is sometimes treated as a quasi-continent (which was kinda retconned with the Oceania Pack)

People think of Australia as a continent, not a country...
Doesn't matter, it's still an pack most people would associate with the country rather than an major region and most people hadn't said much about it.

Also, you guys genuinally believe if Frontier do an India pack or something it will escalate on a Clash of Clans flag situation? It won't, there's a difference between having an handful of flags on an game against having a pack on a zoo game being named after an country.

Debatable. When people think of the "classic" 7 continents, 9 out of 10 people are gonna say Australia instead of Oceania.

I don't, Frontier's probably gonna do anything to milk DLC until the company goes other. That includes intentionally country-focused DLC Packs. I mean hell, we already have India named as a building set, and that pre-dates the Australia Pack too.

That's fair. I guess fiasco was a bit of a strong word. Old Binturong was a fiasco, Wild Dog doesn't look worse than some other base game animals.

But sure, I agree with you that it's definitely on the poorer side, when it comes to model quality

Tbh with only a couple packs left probably I can't see them now starting with country packs, but I can see them doing a specific part of Asia like South Asia. Especially since it can encompass a lot of really easy animals to make lol. This would be my roster:
  • Lion Tailed Macaque
  • Honey Badger
  • Star Tortoise
  • Indian Muntjac
  • Asiatic Lion
  • Blackbuck
  • Gaur
This imo is an example of a DLC that can work under Frontiers new "limitations." All of them would add something to the game yet most of them are all clones. Star Tortoise (Spurred tortoise clone) Muntjac (dik-dik), Lion is a better lion, Blackbuck is a gazelle reskin, gaur is a water buffalo reskin, and the honey badger is the badger with a couple tweaks. The Lion Tailed Macaque is the "saki" of the pack getting the most attention and would probably be the headliner.

I think that it should not have the word Asia in its name, because then reception might be bad. "Oh, a 3rd Asian pack. We already have Eurasia and Southeast Asia"

No, it should be called something different, but I can't think of any terms

Tbf I know it doesn't count exactly but we do have 3 packs with the word America in them as well.

True, true. But I think most people were ok with a 3rd America pack because 2 of them were clearly aimed to SA. North America was not SA (duh, Quell)
India's sometimes considered a "Sub-Continent" so that angling could be used
I could see it, but then it would be odd to include animals from China or Japan.
I heard that using the term Oriental isn't ok, but since I don't say that I'm not sure. Is that word ok to use?

I would definitely pick the alligator over the dog
I'd personally pick the Tanuki myself, and i have like 5 crocodilians in my top 50 most wanted, I just don't really care about the Chinese alligator as much as some of the other croc options.

Would be so funny if we got an India pack, idk if theres enough indian species left that would be popular enough for a full pack tho

Yeah it's slim pickings now. The sloth bear was probably the last highly marketable species for India.

We're left with a few gems but they aren't super well known - blackbuck, gaur, nilgai, lion-tailed macaque, grey langur, Himalayan monal, demoiselle crane, fishing cat, even the western hoolock gibbon...and of course the giant squirrels.
