Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

No coati in this pack is... a (bold) choice.

But i'm loving (almost) all of the animals. Top tier quality for what i've seen so far. The rhea is absolutly gorgeous. Thanks for includinh it. Can't wait to see the saki.
Here you go. :p

I will mention, though, that if we really are looking at a male and female saki in that picture and not two males then this is perhaps a bigger misstep than the Malayan tapir.
How do we know if these are supposed to be a pair? They clearly look like two males.
The sexual dimorphism in the White-Faced Saki is impossible to get wrong, and we know that Frontier usually gets
dimorphism right (except for a couple of exhibits, such as the newt)

So six months of waiting and:
  • no free update
  • no animal from the top 10 of the meta-wishlist
  • no new plants or climbing loggs for the saki or ocelot?

Frontier: if you wanna make money just listen to the buyers. We all wanted a coati. And yes: the animals we are getting are amazing. Thanks for the bushdog, the saki, the rhea and the ocelot. I guess the Flamingo is fine but already questionable. But: the coyote and the bighornsheep - why?!

Please fix this and give us the coati, the mara and a tamarin soon!
I hope they are saving some land animals for PZ2, we received a lot for this game and if they keep adding features I don't know what will be available for the future considering the core of the game would be the same

Ahhhh Frontier.... Frontier....
Hype was there for me after the teasing...
4 animals were very interesting and even if the coyote was a bit upsetting the 2 missing animals being probably either a coati or a mara.... it was a damn good pack.
We were on a good path and we end up with 3 canivorans, 2 canids. No really original animals except for the saki but I am even doubtful of the dysmorphism. The highly requested animals are missing...

But as if as you were aiming for failure and upsetting the players of one of your games bringing a fair amount of money it's a success.

Maybe I am over dramatic and the only feeling this way about Frontier work. But in a context in which financially I have to be more picky with what money I invest in video games, the work of Frontier the last year made me lose trust in their content. Not pre ordering PC2 ended up a great decision and investing less money in time in PZ franchise starts to be the next evident step of distancing with Frontier.

I am afraid that the players who left won't necessarily come back and that Frontier 2016-2023 will never be again. I am even afraid for Frontier in general cause new lay offs won't save their ass.

But it's just a game and if they don't entertain us there are many others.
Considering this I don't know if I'll be back here anytime, so in case I wanna thank the PZ devs for the 2019 2023 PZ development and particularly the fun they gave us in a rough time. Thanks for this forum for the nice and mostly pleasant discussion and I just wish everyone a nice fun ! ❤️

Speaking of, enough hate for the day.
Time to list the things I like about this pack.

So far, all the animals we've seen are pretty good! The feathers on the rhea look spectacular, the ocelot is possibly our best-looking cat, and the saki also looks rather good (I love the details in the fur!)
They mentioned that the bush dog likes water, so I'm curious to see if they've actually implemented that into their habitat requirements; then, it will make for an interesting building challenge!
I'm a fan of the bighorn actually so it's fine with me; the flamingo is a great addition, glad it's the American one...
The scenery has some pretty good elements so far, especially the fence and the wooden gate... Can't wait to see more!

Hope the bush dog looks good - I recently saw them in Prague for the first time, they're actually really cool animals. It's simply a shame that we got two canines in a pack (especially considering that both regions of the Americas already have one canine)

In what topsy-turvy world is a slightly misshappen raccoon harder to make than a climbing anteater? If they didn't have time for a coati they absolutely didn't have time for a tamandua.
I mean we already have a Anteater rig so it's possible, but I do agree, I was actually going to say Squirrel Monkey but I forgot it somehow (I think my brain malfunctioned).

I just got home front he office and watched the trailer with sound. My first thoughts are:

The good:
  1. A new world monkey which is quite common in zoos
  2. Two birds
  3. Patagonian representation
  4. Five animals with range in South America
The bad:
  1. No coati
  2. No mara (or agouti)
So I think this is a good pack, but it lacks a bang. I'm feeling like back in the day when the South East Asia Pack was launched: nice animals to have, but nothing spectacular. We still need to see if there's new foliage and what the new pieces are. The building items can help making this a better pack.

I have a question, doesn’t the Sims 4 DLCs still innovate the game in some way? My GF plays it and it seems like a lot of the expansions actually add a bit into the game?
It does for sure, but at the same time it has to be mentioned that we usually got way more in one pack in the Sims 2 and Sims 3 days and the reason why Sims 4 has SO MANY DLCs now is that they basically sell every bigger feature seperate, which leads to most of us having paid well over 1000 bucks for the game by now.

I think that is what bugs me with the current PZ DLCs as well. It is less effort (due to being understaffed), but not less money, which is just a hidden price raise and I don't like those.

It’s amazing that we’re still getting content after all these years, it just makes me sad because I really miss how excited new announcements used to make me. I remember how estatic I was Southeast Asia, Wetlands, Grasslands, even Twilight with its bats and wombats and Europe with its fallow deer. The announcement of the Oceania Pack was, by far, the most excited I’ve ever been for anything gaming-wise - I was literally yelling “YES!!!” over and over with my fists in the air whilst watching the announcement trailer for the first time.

But since Oceania, which I appreciate more and more as time goes on, there hasn’t been a single pack I’ve been excited for. Eurasia was a perfectly good pack but very much not targeted towards me, I’m not really interested in most domestics so Barnyard was a bust, Zookeeper was a weird collection of animals only few of which I had any interest in and now Americas comes along and does a return to the New World in one of the least satisfying ways possible imo. Not only have the packs not excited me but we really haven’t even gotten a single species I’ve been that thrilled with in the year and a half since Oceania - there’s been things like the African spurred tortoise and greater rhea that I appreciate, but nothing that actually makes me want to rush to play the game or build a habitat for them like so many past additions did. To put things into perspective, I genuinely like the Arid Animal Pack more than any of the packs we’ve gotten post-Oceania, and that’s the pack I’ve been most critical of over the years (and still am).

I don’t really know where I’m going with all this, but I guess it’s just a roundabout way of saying I miss the way this game used to make me feel. I really hope the next pack will have something for me but at this point I don’t like the chances of that.

Eh... I think the California Sea Lion might want to have a say in this....
What's wrong with it?
Males have their iconic head shape, and are generally darker than the females (even if we don't count the dark variant)

Although I have to say: I'm really not a fan of how the Sea Lion looks in-game

I love Frontier's tradition of making the worst animal choices instead of the best and most obvious ones. Americas pack without AMERICAN black bear and without Coati, which is at the top of the community wish list. Every Planet Zoo DLC has at least 1-2 bad choices, that's truly a Frontier tradition! Congrats!
