Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

Still makes me laugh to see so many people surprised by this pack. This is a Frontier special - particularly in the last couple years.
Put a couple top animals in(NW Monkey and 2 birds), then fill it in with a bunch of animals that range from "meh" to "It's nice, but this other animal is obviously a better choice". I'm in no way surprised by the lack of Coati.

We should be used to it by now.
The problem is that aside from the rhea, nothing else was especially requested. Even on Susie's meta-wishlist, the ocelot is the next highest at 17th place. People howlers and spider monkeys, not sakis. People wanted birds that weren't just a second flamingo.

Honestly I feel they didn't have enough time to make a coati, and they where debating between it and the Saki before going with the later, which I do prefer, a SA Monkey was way more needed then a coati or mara, it is just disappointing that the dlc has 2 canine, all they had to do is give us a pudu over the bighorn sheep and a Tamandua over the coyote and we would be golden, but 2 birds and a Monkey are nice.

Sums it up perfectly, even though I really wanted the Coati.
If we get more packs: Great, things will sort themself out.
If not: The gap between community input and Frontier is worrying, not only for this pack, but also fpr PZ2, when we combine that with the PC2 launch state. So eh... really torn on thos one, not gonna lie.
Yup it’s amazing how a single animal switch could have changed how this pack is being received so much.

My expectations were low but I did not expect they'd give us two bloody dogs. When we knew we were getting the coyote my thought was, "the bush dog would be way better, why are you giving us the Dollar Store wolf?" Turns out they were giving us the bush dog too.

I have to wonder what didn't make the cut. Like, who is in the planning team? And who is giving them the green light?

Like if they had a list of, say, 15 potential species to include, how the heck did the coyote make the cut over literally anything else? It's just so absurd to me.

But hey, they put a monkey in, so they've got my money. Which is super frustrating, really.

Well.
The one animal everyone unanimously asked for and possibly the only interesting animal that was really missing for the Americas isn't here.
Instead, we got two dogs, one of which adds absolutely nothing new and the other is the coyote.
Hope the final DLC actually adds something instead of animals we already have.

Okay so there is an actual reason why the coyote end up as the pack face and not the ocelot?

The latter is more fitting both thematically wise considering it ranges on the entire Americas, and context wise considering ocelots are actual wordwide zoo animals unlike the coyote.

While one can argue about willy e. Coyote, the ocelot has litterally the most famous game in history marketing it popularity, and the same game is receiving it movie adaptation this month.

Like i know the coyote was always debatable as the face of the pack, but now knowing the ocelot is here i genuinally can't tell why it's here to begin with.

I think the main thing that disappoints me a bit is the wait- I mean I really don't mind the roster I think It's rlly good even tho there r better choices- but just we have been waiting for more than 6 months for that pack, and that's the result? like at that time modders implemented flying birds... so I mean ofc I'm still happy to get content for the game but It's just feels to me like for that kind of wait we could've got smth a bit more exciting like a Coati- but still I'm excited for that pack

Honestly, I feel like this is another Tropical Pack situation: the animals are overall not bad choices in themselves, but there's that little something that isn't there
The two are actually very comparable in that they both present wasted opportunities.

I don't even care about the coati, honestly, but literally ANYTHING would have been better than the coyote.

They probably knew we'd hate it and didn't want it to be a surprise. Imagine if the bush dog was up front and then we waited with bated breath and found out the coyote was one of the two mystery animals.
