Noticed the dried out bush in the dromedary pic. Is that new?

Also in the trailer the camels walk in a line (with a piebald one in the mix, very nice to see that). It could've been set up for the trailer but hopefully that behavior is in-game. Also hoping this means the herding behavior has been improved even more.

5 ungulates in one pack, including the addax and somali wild ass? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is freaking awesome !!!!!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I know some people will criticize this pack but I absolutely LOVE it. Addax, Somali wild ass and porcupine were in my top 20. I wanted the dromedary and black rhino too. And I thought a lot about the dama gazelle recently as more and more zoos are getting them. I was thinking they would also be very nice to have. I'm also happy to get a new snake. So, yeah, I'm super hyped !!!!!! Thank you Frontier for giving love to ungulates !!!!!!

The only thing I would have changed is the sand cat. Not very interested in that one. I would have preferred the secretary bird or hamadryas baboon. But that's a minor thing and I really can't complain. (Still hope the secretary bird and baboon will be included someday though).

PS: The trailer is amazing and the animals look so good. HYPE !!!!!!!!!!!

Mmm, I am now wondering if any of those species will be walkthrough. The rhino is a no-no, but other gazelles are walkthrough for some reason, sand cats are... very small cats, and porcupines can be dangerous but are functionally punk capybaras...

Baffling stuff. The porcupine is--and looks--fantastic, but five African ungulates in a single pack, and in fact the entire pack being African despite a biome-sounding name, makes this the weirdest (and, honestly, the worst) animal pack roster yet. No hamadryas baboon, no sulcata tortoise, not even a single New World desert animal like a mara or rhea. Yet another pack without a bird of any kind but I expect that at this point. The point, though, is that the crested porcupine is the only animal in this entire pack to fill a new niche, and indeed the only animal in this pack that isn't probably made from a pre-existing rig. Is Frontier phoning it in so hard that they're only adding one unique rig per animal pack now? And for a forum that's spent the past year asking for more monkeys and more birds and has been left starved once again--are you really all this easy to please?

I've been more and more disengaged from the actual game for a while now, and a pack with a grand total of, again, one properly new addition and zero primates, birds, or even any animals from outside Africa/the Middle East definitely won't be a spark to bring me back.

in a game where giant anteaters are walkthrough anything can be 😅

I mean, people ask for walkthrough camels, despite them being consistently labeled as "dangerous animals" in any zoo that houses them. This fandom has pretty much interiorized giant anteaters, cassowaries and hippos as murderbeasts, while everything else is fair game, but things are more complex when dealing with wild animals, even those used to humans.

I'm hoping the wild ass is walkthrough so we can simulate some petting zoo activities a bit more realistically.

Hayo Zookeepers!

Things are heating up in Planet Zoo with the new Planet Zoo: Arid Animal Pack, coming to a Steam Store near you on 20 June alongside Free Update 1.14!

Under the harsh heat of the desert, life still arises and persists. Look out over the dunes and through the sands to discover some miraculous creatures who have adapted to the difficult conditions of these scorching lands.

Be on the lookout for a Dromedary Camel wandering across the desert, while the elegant Addax and Dama Gazelle hunt for edible shrubs, grasses and leaves to snack on. Peer a little closer to the ground and you might catch a glimpse of the prickly African Crested Porcupine, or the shy and elusive Sand Cat. The Black Rhino can also be found munching on leafy plants, branches and fruit, while the well-adapted Somali Wild Ass rests in the shade to get some refuge from the scorching sun. Rounding out the cast is the sleek and impressive Desert Horned Viper, our Exhibit animal for this pack.

The Arid Animal Pack is a celebration of the fauna living in the arid lands, with 8 impressive animals that all have ways to overcome the hardships of the heat.

Bruh what is this joke?
Pack diversity when?
When does frontier learn their lesson?
No birds, no reptiles, no primates, no american and australian animals but 5 ungulates, a cat, an old exhibit and one actually interesting animal.
What arid animal pack? This is saharan ungulates pack + 2 stranglers and even as one of the 3 people that genuinly wanted the dahmas gazelle im dissapointed.
Wheres the hsmadryas babaoon? The african spurred tortoise? Anything not african?
I just...this pack is not bad bad and its genuinly great for north africa but even then its a massive L on the variety Departement.
I wish id atleast was honest and didnt took a general term for some hyper specific species and only those.
Welp bye bye african spurred tortoise, bye bye hamadryas baboon, bye bye patagonian mara, bye bye burrowing owl, bye bye collared peccary, bye bye all of australia, we see you hopefully next year or through mods, hello crested porcupine and an otherwise extremly mid pack.
2023 really isnt frontiers year so far, lets hope for a better second half that does not completly ignore any area that actually needs that attention.

Who says that that's the end? We clearly were getting bits and pieces of Australia, North and South America all of 2022. Just because this is Africa 2 doesn't mean we will never get these other animals.

The mara, baboon, and peccary especially could make it in other ways

Imma be blunt and honest: this constant complaining is annoying and petty.

I don't mind the jokes about Frontier fearing primates and birds, even joining alongside them but seriously. It's like y'all aren't appreciating what we do get, instead looking for the bad. Every DLC announcement is the same, and it kills the mood, y'all.

See things half full, not half empty

They could but why should they?
Frontier could also pick a diverse roster for their dlcs in the presence so that we dont have to hope for the future.
I dont want to hope that they wont exclude south america, australia, monkeys and non mamals next time, i want them to stop that rn or even better from the start.
Last year was so good, grasslands and wetlands are varried and props the best packs ever featuring animals from all continents and in many different shapes and sizes, why are they regressing so much this year?
This year so far is vastly behind last year in the quality of the choices and its not even close and not even funny, just bad

Yeah its the same cause they dont learn the really simple lesson of making varried packs and simply not doing it again
