Planet Zoo - Colour Variation

@Iben I believe DeLady spotted the plant in front of the giraffes picture was something new as well, though I think its the wattle bush, but didnt check. You got any ideas about that?

Yes, Rudi spotted those as well :p They seem to be new grasses, looks like kangaroograss to me!
if both the giraffe and the wolf picture got new things... we need to tripple check the bison picture! Off to the detective-mobile!

Aren't these pictures taken from existing career mode parks?
I highly doubt they'd add stuff to those after release.

At this moment I think you guys are seeing stuff that isn't there.

don't get overexcited at this point is my advice.

I wish you a lot of luck finding these plants in the game, we've been trying to in the game with quite a few people on the discords, it's logical to assume they're new 😅

🤔 Maybe this means a Australia DLC is very likely to be released soon 🦘

And there's a tree in the wolf picture at the back that matches with no tree that is ingame at this point 👀 I tripple-checked to be sure, but that isn't a tree we have ingame!
That Tree looks great. Can't wait to use it in the Game

Might be, or not....

It's also illogical to assume there are "other" new things on that pic other than showcasing the colour variations.

I know it's a fun game to do the "spot what's new" on every picture. But it's also known not every picture contains something new (other than what's promoted in the accompanying text).

We will see soon enough.

I remember stating the temple pieces were new in the pre DLC news game, many dissed those for being made with ingame pieces. Well what we got after those? Temple pieces 😬

That started of as a community thing on facebook, with pictures, which where actually part of a storyline to announce the DLC.
I don't see a storyline developing here, as this is just a basic announcement about where Frontier is in their colour and coat variations adjustments (I hope the community notices this, as this is another thing the community wanted, being updated on progress), which doesn't and isn't intended to give DLC hype the way I look at it. Those where 4 or more pictures telling a story, this is not telling a story or anything and is just there to showcase coat variations.

As this is one of those very big requests, I also don't see a reason why Frontier would want to show anything else then that one thing that the community desires the most.

Besides that, compared to the "South America pics", which you are referring to, there where more than some plants on that picture that suggested a new DLC. While the pics here regarding colour variation do none of that in my eyes.

I am confident we can expect a DLC announcement anytime soon, and it's great to see people get hyped. I'm only unsure about the thing you are getting hyped about, which is just vague pictures of trees and some plants, which give me none of that "O look that's new" vibe.

But we will see soon enough.

With the last Update-Announcement we had DLC "leaks" as well. Pieces, that where not part of the update, but of the DLC, And who talked first about them? Yes, the YouTube influencers. Given that they all seem to see it just now and not on friday makes me think this is indeed a silent marketing plan ;) Never underestimate the hype-power of speculation and potential leaks.

Yes, like how the announcement for update 1.2 on social media has some of the bamboo building set in the background (even though the SA pack had not been announced, and DLC was mentioned nowhere in the post), and looking back, I think there might be some of the nordic building pieces in the background of one of the 1.1 announcement images...
So there is precedent for DLC teases in non-DLC images.

Anyway, exciting stuff - both the potential tease AND the variation images. As others have said, I hope that the colours are on something of a spectrum rather than there being, for example, one brown, one light grey, one dark grey for wolves, but I will be excited to see them nonetheless! I wonder how some things would be classified under the three categories - for example, if different patterns of Indian elephant depigmentation were included, would those be Medium or Major? The colours wouldn't be all that different, but different ranges of pigment would completely change the look of the animal. Looking forward to more information!

Which, where as obvious can be, meant as DLC "leaks". And these are far from that obvious. And I don't think a single plant should be able to power a hype train.

And just because someone "sees" something, doesn't mean it's true, especially when they are "Youtube Influencers".

It's just so entertaining to me, that the topic that people really fough hard for on this forum, which is coat variation, immediately is turned over just because somebody sees a yellow straw, or a suspicious tree trunk, when all I see is something blurry.

And I don't believe with such a hot topic as "coat variation" this would be the case, to divert the attention to something else.
Not with all the hate they received because of a lack of coat variations.

From a marketing perspective, that would not be the correct thing to do IMO.

If this is part of a 1.3 update, we can be certain it will be accompanied by a DLC, I fully expect such a thing, but speculating about the type of content with only these 3 pictures, is pretty hard, and is 100% a guessing game with no info to go on which in the end makes it all loose sand.

It is something Frontier did practically every time with screenshots for Planet Coaster to have subtle new objects / scenery / features 'teased'. I don't think there was any major update or DLC when that wasn't the case. So based on that history I find it very plausible that these contain new plants whether part of the DLC or the free update. It's a very frontier move and it became something of a game with the community to try and spot everything - hence why the content creators who mostly also played PC will have been looking.

I am looking forward to both the color changes and any new update/DLC, but one thing that made me a bit sad with the first pic is it showing bisons with trees in their habitat. This is something you can't do ingame, if you want the bisons to be at maximum happyness as their preferred biom don't contain a single tree :(

There is a mod on Nexus that turns even polar bears into tree huggers.

Albeit there doesn`t seem to be a real benefit to keep the animal wellfare at 100%. I focus on more realistic temperate zoo´s, and a baobab in the midst of central europe simply isn`t an option (Unless you come up with something like a giant tempered hall). The small penalty on the overall wellfare is a fair price for keeping the realism.

Welfare turned off in Sandbox does wonders for the game's realism. That said the baobab is one of the few exotic trees I do plant in temperate Europe maps, but in my head I pretend they are fake (some zoos do theme African areas with fake baobabs). I usually try and Google certain trees to see if they can grow in temperate climates as well.
