Agree, except I think they actually mean patriarchal. Matralineal doesnāt mean female led (thatās matriarchal) it means inheritance follows the female line (i.e., for animals, that social rank is inherited from the mother) So, I think they made 2 errors - they said āmatriā instead of āpatriā and ālinealā instead of āarchalā
oops, totally forgot about this!
Right, that makes sense. To be honest, I didn't make much of a distinction between "matriarchal" and "matrilineal" only because I wasn't sure if the game did. For instance, the game will use all these different terms: "patriarchal," "patrilineal," male dominance," and "male is dominant," and sometimes it seems quite vague or random which terms the game would use, and what they really meant by it. I feel like it's a missed opportunity for player education, that they don't elaborate further. Especially for those more complex animals, like lions, where the males eat first and patrol the territory to keep other males out, but the females decide where the territory is, whether they will move locations, when they decide to hunt, and the female offspring inherit that living space from the matrilineal line, whereas the male offspring all get chased out when they're older. It's shame the game will often just list something like "matrilineal" or "male is dominant" and not be very specific. I think some people really do read the zoopedia out of curiosity of animals.
