🐾 Planet Zoo: Update 1.5 and Southeast Asia Animal Pack out now! 🐾

Desided to give the game a try again after quitting last patch due to the changes to the tradecentre (removing the option to put more than 50 animals in it, wich still sucks, but trying to work around it). The new patch seems to be good overall, but there are some annoying changes that bugs me alot.

1. In the Timeline UI, when you release an animal, it instantly scroll to the top, wich is really annoying and makes it hard to scroll back to the right time again (and you have to scroll back and forth alot!) please revert this change.
2. When you click on an animal in the tradecentre all animals you have multiselected gets instantly reselected and you have to start all over with the multiselect. This makes it impossible to check the stats of the animals you want to multiselect, hope this can be changed.
3. With the change to the Trading market UI in franchise, you can no longer select both longevity and size when hunting for new animals, only one at a time :( This makes it harder for me to find the new animals I want to buy, as I'm only interested in animals that have a minimum of 90% in both of those, and I can't search for that anymore)
4. All the filters in the market gets reset when changing from one zoo to another in franchise!!! This needs to be reverted asap!!! Since the changes to the tradecentre capacity I now have to change from zoo to zoo all the time and having all my filters reset every time is extremly frustrating!! I've had the same filters for months and only changed them once I was "done" with a species. And now I have to set the filters every time I log into one of my zoo's??? NOT GOOD! Please, please change this!

Looks great. Can't get it straight away this time around, but it's near the top of my list for the near future.

Still find it weird that you've specified "Ussuri Dhole" but not a sun bear subspecies. I've seen both in a couple of zoos and the sun bears always seem to be "Malayan sun bear" while the dholes always just seem to be "Dhole".

Just wanted to quickly mention how I appreciate adding the block of frozen fish as a free enrichment. I dont usually use the underwater feeder for my aquatic animals, because then I have to have even deeper water, so adding another option of food enrichment is really critical for me. Thank you, loving the update and the pack.

Also noticed that the binturong still has old animal icons, which is understandable as it was a last minute redesign, just wanted to know if its planned to change the icons?

You can't put multiple animals on the market at the same time, only sell them or set them free!!
Really hope this is a bug!!
And when you put an animal on the market you can't see that it's on the market only by clicking it... there is no time displayed on the "main screen" anymore.
Ive just noticed this too. Im sure when we first got multi select we could just put a group of animals on for the same price

The Trade Center Update is great because it makes it way faster than before but there are also a few Problems with it.
-The Animals in the Trade Center aren't longer sorted by Species (now it is Himalayan Brown Bear, Western Lowland Gorilla, Bornean Orangutan, Western Lowland Gorilla). It would be great if this could be fixed because it can be hard to find Animals that way without needing to use a Filter.
-Also when you select a Animal Filter you need to select the Filter, leave the Menu and then open it again to reach the Option to activate the selected Filter.
-The remaining Time for a Animal on the Market isn't shown anymore
-also while looking at my Reward Animals I've noticed that some of them seem to have lost their Icon. It doesn't seem to be specific to any Species because one female Red Ruffed Lemur has a Icon but the other one doesn't have it

Love this update and I have barely played around with it, just a bit before work and in it now during lunch (yay remote working!) Have already saved a couple of franchises as sandbox -and yes, you can continue to play the zoo as either Franchise or Sandbox from the point you saved it at, changes made in one will not reflect in the other as I thought and as it should be - and have played with the water settings a little bit. Got my male/female set of Dhole, Clouded Leopard, Sun Bear and Babirusa, all for zoo dollars except the Clouded Leopard, which weren't too expensive on the CCs. The Frontier animals seem to overall have better stats than usual, but that could just be a thing for right now which is nice. Haven't placed any in habtats yet but they are in quarentines, I guess I'll be building the habitats today and maybe get started on researching them tonight!

Oh and I got 16 statues of varying material, not bad considering how little I've played Career mode.

It should be considered torture that you release this at noon on weekdays, with the launch trailer and all showcasing videos ready for lunch break. It was maybe not my most productive workday today. :geek: I have just taken a quick look around and I'm over the moon with the update and the pack combined!

Most happy about the following from the update:
  • water transparency tool
  • continent tags for rocks!!!! (seems like a minor thing but it bugged me SO much)
  • scratching tree enrichment - along with the feeder for the koalas, I really like the implementation of more natural-looking items!
  • keeper heatmap
  • multiple entrances will also come in handy, I believe!
And the animals are of an amazing quality, each of them is. I can't wait to make proper habitats for them and watch them more closely. My favourites are probably the Clouded Leopard, the Sun Bear and of course THE BINTURONG. I mean, they are even walkthrough? They might become all-game-favourites for me! (And judging after the showcases from Delady and Paulsley from before the update, I think the original model wasn't THAT horrible when moving and the screenshot was a bad choice indeed. But that belongs to the past and nobody can deny that the reworked model is absolutely amazing.)

I'm also happy with the Babirusa, they are quite small which makes them less scary :D The monkeys are some real weirdos, but really well made! And I'm also happy with the Tapir, they seem to be bigger (or more "massive") than the other one. The Dhole looks superb as well, even though I'm not overly excited about the species.

So I think you really nailed it with that pack and the quality of the content, as well as the update! A lot more variety and a lot more quality of life.

I have one question about interspecies enrichment here. I see binturong benefits from sharing habitat each with sun bear and the malayan tapir, malayan tapir and proboscis monkey and indian elephant all enrich each other, and malayan tapir and bornean orangutan enrich each other, but why not have all those 6 species of animals enrich each other???

Because the whilst the sun bear will happily share a habitat with a Bintarong if you tried to put it in with an elephant the chances are it would get trampled in 5 minutes. Just because species wouldn't eat each other doesn't mean they should share a habitat. On the other hand you could try it - them not receiving an enrichment bonus doesn't mean they can't live together, it just means they don't actively like living alongside them.

Can someone recommend free Software for changing mp4 to webm for the Billboards?
I hope they will find a Way to let mp4 work too

I might have missed this being discussed elsewhere, but I just noticed that the Dhole and Babirusa and called exactly that in game, dropping the Ussuri and North Sulawesi (sub)species names. Has this happened before, where we've seen an animal announced with a more specific name before going to a more generic one upon release? Don't get me wrong, I actually really like the change! It makes it easier to quickly hone in on a specific animal from a list without having to remember its specific name. Common Ostrich and Southern Cassowary, for example, still trip me up.

After having played for a couple hours today in sandbox mode to check all the new things, I must say that I'm quite satisfied with this pack, but even more with the update.

First of all, I have to say that the animals in this pack were not very high on my personal wishlist, except maybe the clouded leopard. Despite that, I really like all of them and they are a nice addition to the family:

-Clouded leopard: as I said, it was my most wanted from this pack and it has met all my expectations.
-Sun bear: I like bears and this one is quite different from the others, so a very welcome addition to the game.
-Binturong: I love the new look and the very small amount of space it needs. I think I will use it more than I thought.
-Proboscis monkey: probably the big suprise. I like how it looks and that it can swim. Also, as only very few zoos have them, it gives me hope to get an Iberian lynx in the future.
-Dhole: it looks different enough from the dingo. A nice addition to the roster.
-Malayan tapir: I'm fine with it and the issues mentioned by some users don't really bother me. Despite being black and white, they bring a colourful touch to the game.
-Babirusa: I don't like much this animal in real life, but it looks good in the game. I have nothing against it.
-Giant leave insect: it looks fantastic, but as I said before, it is too difficult to see them in such a large terrarium.
-Gharial: cool to see it diving now. It's a good excuse to try the new water.

Enrichment items:
  • The hammock and the animation of the sun bear and clouded leopard using it are incredible, I could watch them for hours. Congratulations to the team.
  • The new food item for the bear is boring, sorry. I don't see the point. 😅
  • The ice fish and the two trees are good.

New features/Update:

-Having the continent tags on the rocks is a wonderful change. It makes it so much easier now to add rocks and plants without having to remove the tags all time.
-The new thing that activates the plant filters on the animal tab is amazing! I never thought of it, but I love it.
-The water UI is great too, but I need to get used to the new look of the water. When it looks great in the underwater view, it looks too transparent from above. I need to find the right balance I guess.
-I'm glad that when I click on the animal icon on the list of the animals in the habitat, it finally opens that animal tab instead of only focusing the camera on it. When there was a lot of foliage, it was hard to click on the animal.
-I didn't expect the images preloaded on the custom billboards. It's handy to have the images shown in the educatiion boards so that we can use them in the small and larger screens.

What I miss:
  • Search bars! Come on! The more animals we get, the more tiring it gets to scroll all the time. And with the custom billboards, the scrolling party has just begun.
  • "Select all" button for staff.
  • If I open the animal menu that shows all the habitats in my zoo and I release one animal, the window is closed and I have to activate all the filters again. This window shouldn't be closed or should at least remember the filters.

As you can see, there are many good things for me in this pack/update and it will make the game easier for me. It's not my favourite pack because of the theme, but I like the direction Frontier is taking the game to. I'm looking forward for the future!

In conclusion, thank you Frontier. ♥️

I noticed that too. On the zoopedia description they keep the full name, but on the animal tab, market and the notifications they have the short name. I wish they did the same with the timberwolf and named it just "wolf".
