I'm so excited about billboards that I'm unable to feel disappointment
at this time
Thank you frontier devs for all the hard work and contributions to this game.
I have to admit that the billboards feature saved this update for me, even thought the custom audio sounds fantastic as well, and the flexi color water would definitely open up the possibilities for certain areas and water assets to look even more realistic. Mossy water, murky water and even African river streams are all now possible, this along deserves a cake. I'm very happy for franchise and challenge mode players that they have received so many of the features they wanted, did not even know that half of this things were community requests.
It goes to show you how amazing this game is, that it can mean so many different things to so many, and that multiple player communities can exist in the same platform. I'm sure that when the billboard feature was announced many in these communities might have thought, what is the big deal? Some might have just looked at it as advertisement or another level of management. For many of the players that focus on creativity in sandbox it will forever change this game. I do agree with other players that game props as rewards for playing these modes, is not the way to go. It will not make me want to play those modes any more or less, but it will keep me from accessing precious content in a game that is all about endless possibilities, creativity and variety, so not a fan of that, and I hope it does not become a trend.
Aside from that I did feel my blood pressure go down when no brachiation was announced, was really hoping for this, and besides flying it is the next great frontier in animal animation for Frontier
I do now question that South East Asia will be the next dlc
because it would make no sense without gibbons, and gibbons would make no sense without brachiation. A general Asia theme would make absolutely no sense either, since we already have two construction themes that allow us to recreate those worlds in detail, as well as its biggest animal starts, Giant Pandas, Snow Leopards, Bengal Tigers, Siberian Tigers, Red Pandas, Japanese Macaques and the list goes on.
For all it is worth Frontier might have something even bigger and better up their sleeves, and speaking about bigger and better, that was my biggest take away from this update, and I'm quite surprise no one is talking about it. There are zero scenery/foliage items in this free update, a major part of each update before this one. Now Chante mentioned not too long ago that the team was hoping this to be Frontier's biggest year yet, so not sure that less game assets, especially foliage (the heart and soul of any zoo) means that. This brings me to the conclusion that whatever it is they will be realizing in a dlc, took considerable resources to deliver, and that was their primary focus. I choose to believe this and wait with anticipation.
