Planet Zoo: Wetlands Animal Pack arriving 12 April

I think I will do something along the lines of the central enclosure at Healesville without underwater viewing or the (former?) outdoor enclosure at Taronga based on a stream. A realistic indoor tank which is more typical could be quite challenging.
Yeah, I think nixing the underwater viewing is going to be the only way to make it small enough (well, for me at least).

I've done small habitats with underwater viewing that are shaped like the cross section of a spoon. The bowl section is about 6 foot deep and guests can see the animals at all depths, and then the handle is dry land and the animals are just below the guests' eye level.

I would do a split view that is floor to like chest height. That should work well enough. They probably won't be able to dive, but still. The new camera mode should help a lot with that.
I get the feeling I'm going to struggle to use the new camera mode for anything except wandering around. 😅

What you're describing is pretty close to how I already do my caiman habitats, though, and of course they won't dive in such shallow water. Doesn't bother me too much, of course; most of the time when I see crocodilians in zoos they're either lazing on land under a basking lamp (that would be an incredibly useful enrichment item, actually) or doing that half-submerged behaviour with their tail on the bottom of the pool and their snout and head sticking out from the top.

I think in the case of the small-clawed otter, platypus and dwarf caiman, diving requirements should be brought down to 1 meter, for it to be proportional to animal/hitbox size. For instance, the caiman in the screenshots below can't dive.

Really hoping that we get an aviary pack next time, birds have been requested so many times and by so many people it would certainly make the zoo complete.

Are there no building pieces again in this pack ? Was hoping to atkeast get some new building pieces.

1. We have never once been promised aviaries; it has always been pure speculation. A lot of folks need to get out of the mindset that Frontier just has birds sitting around waiting to be released. Stop getting your hopes up for aviaries.

2. There is a pattern; animal pack, scenery pack, animal pack, scenery pack. The last pack was a scenery pack (Europe) so this one was of course going to be an animal pack. The next one will almost certainly be a scenery pack, where you'll get your building pieces.

I will definitely buy the pack, I love the capybara, platypus, crane and otter! Less excited about the water buffalo, newt and yet another crocodilian. Although they are logistical choices for a wetland pack..

I personally don't like birds very much, apart from some exceptions. But in a game with human and economic potential like PZ, which aims to simulate a zoo, in 2022 it is serious and disappointing if there will not be. There is no reason that they do not exist ingame, neither at graphical level neither at technical movement and behavior levels.

This pack could be much better if the devs had changed the 5th crocodilian by the ALLIGATOR SNAPPING TURTLE

They are amazing, have a badass dinosaurkaiju-like body and fit perfectly in a wetland theme

EDIT: Also they would represent North America instead two South American wetlands animals

I shared with my boyfriend last night that I would be so ecstatic if this ended up being a wetlands pack instead of a SA2 pack (due to the capybara living in wetlands). "That would mean they could include the platypus - wishful thinking!" My all time favorite animal 😍🥹 I did not think it would actually happen!!! Ever since the release of the Aquatic Pack, I have held out hope that we would some day see the platypus, after deep-diving was added to the game. I have seriously watched it climb the meta-list since it was in the mid 20's, always crossing my fingers that other players would vote for it. I am so excited to see these creatures in game! Seriously could not been happier. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Frontier! 💗

As for the rest of the roster, also fantastic. I am personally very excited to use the capybara, Asian small-clawed otter, red-crowned crane(!!!) and the Danube crested newt. Two of these were on my personal list with the third just barely not making it due to space lol. I will eventually use the Nile lechwe, as it is very beautiful and I really love that we have another antelope for those "less exciting" areas in zoos. The spectacled caiman is sure to also be a pretty model. I love the excitement from everyone for the Water Buffalo.

That's a very good surprise overall, after yesterday's stream I was afraid we would have a south american pack with a crocodilian and the spectacled bear... This is much, much better. I'll definitely buy this.
The capybara was an obvious choice, and I really, really wanted the ASCO as a very very common and emblematic zoo animal. I'm personally not a fan of the platypus (as it's a very uncommon zoo animal outside of Australia) but it was highly requested and Australia is underrepresented so it's fine. It's a delight having the red crowned crane, though, at last another bird! The Nile lechwe is a good niche pick, we didn't have any wetland antelope and it will make for an interesting type of habitat to build.
The water buffalo is fine, it fills another niche we couldn't really fill, but I did not feel the need for it ; I feel like there could have been better choices (red river hog anyone?). The spectacled caiman is the only real disappointment of the pack - yet another crocodilian, very similar to one we already have, small so hard to build a convincing exhibit... I would have taken another bird instead (the shoebill or a pelican for instance).

I guess I just think this is the worst dlc so far.

Partly because the animal choices are AWFUL another caiman and a nile lechwe are brain dead choices (someone should be fired for having bad ideas).

And partly because the wetlands dlc is insanely dumb. South America still has no sloths, maned wolf, andean bear, howler monkeys...and Oceania still has no wombats, tasmanian devil, wallaby, tree kangaroos.

All the regions of the world that were underrepresented....still are.

But....we get a another buffalo. Right? And ANOTHER Caiman. So if the community doesn't know any better just spoon feed them whatever.

I used to give my dog ice cubes as a treat. She was too stupid to know any better.

(Some deeper meaning behind that too)

Give them WHATEVER tell them it's a treat. And if you're anything like my dog, you're not going to put any thought into it. 👍
I feel very sorry for the CMs and devs that have to read these unnecesarry hateful comments... Like I am all for voicing your opinion on the picks as long as it is respectful, but suggesting someone should be fired because there was a decision made to pick an animal in a videogame that you dont like and then suggesting players who like these picks are stupid...just wow.

I for one like the picks, I like the mix of highly requested animals such as Capybara, unique ones such as Platypus and lesser known or underdogs such as the Lechwe and the Water Buffalo. I would change the Caiman if it was up to me, mainly because we recently had the Alligator, but I am not going to hate on the whole pack and the devs just because of that.

It is not the messege you are sending to the devs, we get it, you dont like the picks, but the way you are delivering it is way over the edge.

I think that's a glitch? I've definitely housed African penguins in shallower water than that, and I believe they have the same deep water requirements. I don't know, though-- might just be an odd design choice
