SIBERIAN TIGER
Panthera tigris altaica

The Siberian tiger -- also known as the Amur tiger -- is the largest of all the cat species. It is characterized by orange-yellow fur with thin, black stripes and a paler undercoat on its belly. Its head is also very large, with strong jaws containing large canines.

The species was once common and widespread in the Far East of Russia and the North-Eastern borders of China and North Korea, but by the 1940s it had been hunted to near extinction for its fur, with only 40 Siberian tigers remaining in the wild. The population has slowly recovered thanks to conservation efforts in Russia, and there are now 560 individuals in the wild. As such, it is considered Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN),

AMUR LEOPARD
Panthera pardus orientalis

The Amur leopard is a subspecies of the leopard found in temperate forests between the Russian Far East and China. The species is adapted for both warm summers and cold winters of the region. This big cat has a stocky, muscular build, a thick tail and broad face with small, rounded ears. The dense coat of the Amur leopard ranges from tan to orange in base color, with a white belly. The body of the animal is covered in black rosettes,

Amur leopards have been declared Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In 1970 there were thought to be only 30 individuals left in the wild. While habitat degradation and low prey availability are factors threatening their survival, the main reason for their extremely low population numbers is overhunting. This is due to their furs being highly sought after in the fur trade. Captive breeding programs and conservation efforts mean that their numbers are now slowly recovering. However, despite protective measurements even today the species is under threat from poaching, and the low genetic diversity in Amur leopards that resulted from low population numbers lead to high infant mortality.

In 2012, the Russian government declared an area containing 60% of the remaining Amur leopards to be a national park, and conservationists are campaigning to increase the boundaries of this park into the Chinese areas of the leopard's habitat.

EURASIAN LYNX
Lynx lynx

The Eurasian lynx is a medium-sized cat that is found in temperate and boreal forests and mountains of Europe and Asia. It has a broad, stocky build with large feet, and is known for its short tail and distinctive ear tufts. Its coat color ranges from cream to tan, with black spots all over the body. Both the tail tip and ear tufts are black too. Males and females look alike, although males are slightly larger and significantly heavier.

The Eurasian lynx has been threatened in the past due to overhunting for their fur. Hunting this species is now illegal in every country in the entire world with the single exception of Russia. In the 1960s and 70s, the Eurasian lynx was reintroduced to areas of its historical range in Germany, France, Austria, and Switzerland. Today, the species is no longer threatened with extinction, and is considered of "Least Concern" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

CARACAL
Caracal caracal

The caracal is a small wildcat living in the savannahs, marshes, semi-deserts and wood and scrublands of Africa and the Middle East. Its coat is tan-red with a paler underside and the body is stocky with large feet and a comparatively short tail. It has large pointed ears with long, black tufts protruding from the tips, as well as dark facial markings above the eyes and sides of their lips.

Historically, caracals have been tamed and used for hunting in some cultures.

Caracals are categorized as a species of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and are not in danger of extinction.

Welcome to Sequoia Park Zoo, a franchise zoo project set in Central Canada. Most of the animals are going to be from northern, colder climes. I release Planet Zoo videos every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mornings at 9 am, Eastern Standard Time (US) (that's 6 am US Pacific Time, 2 pm Greenwich Mean Time, and 3 pm Central European Time).

SNOW LEOPARD
Panthera uncia

Identifiable by its white to grey fur, black rosettes across its body, and black spots on its face, the snow leopard lives in the mountains of Nepal, Tibet, Northern India, Southern Siberia, Pakistan, Bhutan and Mongolia.

The species was judged Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) for a variety of reasons. Farmers kill them to prevent them killing their livestock, and they are also hunted for their fur and body parts, the latter of which are valued in Chinese medicine. Lastly, habitat degradation has reduced their prey options. Conservation efforts have been made by establishing protected areas and assisting farmers in 'leopard proofing' the land where they keep their livestock, while locals are being educated on the snow leopard. In many areas concerted efforts are also being made to remove poachers' traps.

Been a little quiet on my channel lately, but here is a video I hope can help you with some terrain work without the use of terrain tools.
