Planet Zoo | ZooKeepers Animal Pack Announcement

Well, so that's that. I'm happy for everyone that's happy with the pack.

Personally though? All I got running through my head again is copy-paste - copy-paste...and that for a last pack and after such a long wait, too. My hopes for the free update somewhat making up for it are pretty low this time around as well, seeing how we had like 0 teasers for any special new features yet. So yeah, pretty underwhelming and disappointing for me and I certainly won't get it right away either. Maybe when it's on sale sometime, but there's just nothing in there that's a "must have right now!" for me sadly.

Here's hoping PZ2 won't be too far away in the future and is more inclusive towards birds and aquatics as well as reptiles. I've really had my fill of bears, goats, cats and pigs now...
Yeah, that's another good point. There's not a single animal on here that screams "this one took a lot of work to make". I mean, I guess you could make the case for the Hamadryas Baboon, but I don't.

So the last DLC and its an animal pack with LESS animals than usual and all of them are just CLONES. Only 1 animal from the top 10 list.

I sound negative, because I am very disappointed with having the lamest DLC so far as the grand spectacle last DLC. At least Planet Coaster got a Premium DLC which cost more but gave them a lot, as a final farewell.

My ideas would have perhaps included the very unique climbing tree kangaroo, the semi-aquatic walrus, the also very unique climbing tamandua, the mantled guereza with its magnificent coat and tail, the fully aquatic manatee maybe, and another rare and unique animal would be the echidna to have a perfect line up for Australia. The Kirks Dik Dik could have also been replaced with a Mara so we at least had something more for Patagonia.

In terms of the animal roster itself, I think all the animals in isolation are actually pretty great - particularly pleased by the dik-dik, as the game now has one of the three antelope species my local zoo actually keeps (sleep tight, greater kudu and blue duiker).

It does seem a rather odd roster for an absolutely final pack though - I would have expected something like the secretary bird, New World monkey or coati, which seem no more difficult to make than what we got here, but I guess we'll have to wait for a hypothetical sequel for such animals.

Hey at risk of developing a small scale community riot, I have a question!

Are you allowed to confirm that this is the final pack for PC?
I don't think that's in need of confirming, that's pretty obvious. If they come out and say it that just denies the community the plausible deniability to be able to take some time to come to accept that fact.

Not a lot of u hating on the Spectacled Bear- the model looks freaking INCREDIBLE and they r so gorgeous and cute, who cares that it's "another bear" it's SA represention and It's a super cute and unique bear and it's super requested animal, so I don't get it.
I mean, I would've been happy with the ABB anyways. So, either or for me. At least the spec bear made it when I didn't think it would

Nothing against the animal in particular nor the model.

But we have 8 bears, representing 7/8 of the bear species. I'll rather not even calculate ratio of primates or birds as it'd be really embarrassing.

Also, justifying an animal inclusion by how good the model looks is a very poor argument. Why would a duck not look equally good?

But hey, different opinions and that's all good.

I think having 7 out of 5 panthera species is the real head scratcher here.
Like if you were hell bend on having another cat as the anniversary why not do the ocelot, or better yet a squirrel monkey to atleast put a little bandage on the gun shot that is the SA roster

Anybody who calls the sifaka a clone should grab a dictionary and look up the definition of clone while watching a sifaka in motion
That's true. And I love the sifaka. It is much more valuable than both the red and white ruffed. It's really one of my favorite primates. It doesn't change the fact that it was a complete miss. I don't need a fourth species from Madagascar. I'd have taken a true monkey from anywhere else on the planet.

In my opinion:

Positive points:
Dik dik, Sifaka, Pallas cat, Babboon and the turtoise are cool addition... but nothing so banger
The bear model
Hopefully the sifaka will be fun to watch!

Negative points:
Overall the pack is Africa-Asia based and the only SA animal we get is a bear....
The bear and the leopard of the free update.... really???? Like really???? Ah here we go again... I mean even a bushdog would have been more satisfying despite being a canid. Like we really have 7 bears vs 12 non flying birds....
One animal missing compared to animal packs. the 95 pieces explain it but still disappointing.
Nothing in the update could explain this time.
The Pallas cat looks very very weird.... not a surprise considering that Frontier never managed to do great cats.

Overall this pack feels such low work and it took them half a year. It doesn't look at all like a goodbye pack...
It's a very sad ending for the game honestly. The 2024 packs really give me a bitter feeling. I was really hoping for this final pack to give me the motivation to come back to the game, after Barnyard even failed to convince me to buy the dlc, but I guess I will simply pass and move on this great run I had on PZ (650h).

But I am also happy for the people who asked for their favorite animals to be added and who will find them in this pack!

It just feels like the nail on the coffin for most of the issues I’ve had with PZ and Frontier for awhile.

I one year we got 1/3rd of the games birds. But if you like at the birds as individuals families and not as a whole group it’s really sad. If you like ratites and penguins you are in a good spot, however if you want:
  1. More than one flamingo, crane, or pheasant.
  2. Another waterfowl species.
  3. Literally the top birds on the meta wishlist, which have been there for a long time!
You are just out of luck. If we do the same thing with monkeys, we see that PZ has only one New World monkey species. Which is also sad for the best zoo game ever made.

With low birds and low monkeys that just ties around to the South America issue, which suffers from both of these.

On the real though, this is a zookeeper pack. Despite being a pack for the keepers this has none of the common bird habitat species that we know Frontier can do:
  1. No American flamingo
  2. No grey crowned crane
  3. No great white pelican
  4. No waterfowl species
  5. No pheasant species
  6. No Guinea fowl
  7. No Rhea species for South America
Like I said, this pack looks great. Knowing this game is ending on 12 birds though, that is putting a sour taste in my mouth.
