Planetary landing Suite

I've noticed that in my secondary account (ED only not horizons) the Sidewinder has the above module and I have by accident entered Orbital Cruise a couple of times. I don't really want to destroy this ship (only 54k cr ) so what happens if you try to land - do you just bounce off the planet the you get to where you would start the glide in Horizons or what?

If you have the planetary landing suite, then you will be able to land. Without it, you would have dropped out of SC and not entered orbital flight.

Are you sure you are logged in to the ED only account?

That's what I thought and why I asked. It is an ED account (not Horizons) as it on Steam, bought in the £9.99 sale (main account isn't on steam).

As above I believe the emergency drop is closer now than before with the original exclusion zone now being the Orbital Cruise height instead... (Afaik) :D

Well, as I and the others have said, if you weren't able to land on planets, you would drop out of SC some distance before you get to the planet surface. The fact is though that your ship has the planetary landing suite, so the game thinks it's Horizons.

You could send in a support ticket...

It seems, that the 64 bit version of non horizon Elite uses the same files as horizon elite, just cutting itself off, with some software switch, I would guess this switch has glitched?

I just had to test it. Obtains Orbital Cruise - when you reach the point at which you would start the Glide in Horizon - you get a soft emergency drop (no damage) and can't go any lower. So what you expect really.
