Planetary Scan Missions - Questions

So do you now get bounties every time you accept and complete a Planetary Scan Mission? I tried to do this in Quince where I used to get some of my engineering mats about a year or so back.

Just took my Anaconda out there, swapped it for my minor engineered ship that had the SRV I had stationed there so I can land and move about a lot quicker and took some missions as I needed Exquisite Focus Crystals. Got a few missions, got bounties upon each scan as was mentioned in Beta and then I'm screwed. Cashed in my missions, locked out of everything, including my Anaconda.

Just found out this was a big issue in Beta with the new C&P, but which is stupid for situations like this where you are basically offered missions that screw you.

So is this with all planetary scan missions now that automatically give you a bounty? Or is it just some like Quince?

If so I assume the new method of doing these missions is to make sure there is a low security system 1 jump away that after you complete your missions you can jump over, clear the bounty and return to cash in the missions and take more if needed?

[knocked out] Basically between nerfs, broken gameplay, new modules with no posted stats that you need to massively grind for just to find out they suck and nonsensical payouts/bounties the game is just so that I cannot even login to play.

Planetary scan missions everywhere now have a chance of being 'illegal', meaning it's a private beacon and likely to be inside a trespass zone, although it's always possible to avoid entering the trespass zone. IMO, it's simply RNG, with higher ranked missions very likely to be illegal. I've done 18 since 3.0 dropped, one has been legal. It has been this way since at least 2.4.

You have got yourself stuck in the perfect storm of being a long way from an IF, and locked out from transferring to your clean ship. If you have a fuel scoop fitted, I guess you could make your way to one. You should still be able to hand in your completed missions in Quince, at least that's how I understood anonymous access to work, just won't be able to do much else.

Personally, I have not bothered to clean the bounties that I have accrued from these scan missions, and will continue until I'm destroyed for them. I use a Viper MkIII, very cheap to re-buy. But yes, if you prefer to not carry bounties around then it's always a good plan to know where your nearest IF will be just in case the bounty is issued by the faction that controls the station where you have other business to do, especially one where you store ships.

Problem is this was a small quick ship with no fuel scoop. I got all the missions not entering the trespass zone, but still got the bounty after each scan. Cashed in all the missions and then crashed my ship to see if that would work. Spawned on the surface base, but there was no ship yard to ship my Anaconda to. Went back, still locked out of everything and then said screw it, destroyed my ship, got the stock on 400+ ly away, upgraded to a DBX and fully upgraded it and am flying back to get my Anaconda and selling this one off.

Not in it for the credits, just the mats, so maybe places like Cubeo that have low security systems around also have lower scan missions that won't give bounties. Plus I'll just use my general AspX mat collector ship there anyways as it's got a good jump 3.0 G5 jump range and SRV, etc.

Good to know it's not every mission like this and since I can deal with getting my mats and just going a system over to pay off the bounties it will work out...

I've found planetary scan missions to be consistently high-paying for relatively little work. While they do often have you gain a bounty due to scanning a private beacon, it's a small one which doesn't give you any notoriety so a quick visit to Interstellar Factors once you've done a round of them will fix that. A single scan mission has often brought me as much as three decent deliveries would while taking about as much time - if not significantly less.

Perhaps you could ask the fuel rats to help by escorting your small ship by refueling you along the way to the nearest station with IF that you can also get a scoop at?

Your game strategy has changed with 3.0.

Before, no one really cared where the Interstellar Factors were. But when you got a bounty you were stuck with it. Eight minutes for a trespass but the times would stack if you had multiple bounties. Then you still had to H-Jump out of the system to clear it.

Now there isn't any waiting, but you need to pay attention to where the IF people are, and be sure you are in a ship that can get there.

Not really that much better or worse than before, just different.

Well got back to Quince, got my Anaconda and left the new DBX there. Picking up all the Crystal missions I can and then after completion I'll fly out and do it in Cubeo where there are a few Low Security systems around making it a lot easier to pay of the bounties if I even get them with their missions. It's not like I need a ton of the Exquisite Focus Crystals at all so its not that I need to do a ton of these missions at all like I did back when 2.4 came out...
