Planets with an orange hue that are not really orange

I noticed that planets that show up in the System Map with a distinct orange hue actually appear as greyish / blueish planets when you approach them. As far as I've seen, this only applies to landfall planets. Planets that cannot be landed on that show in the System Map with an orange hue, actually are orange when you approach them.

As far as I can tell, this is not influenced by the star type; it happens for any type of star from M-class to Neutron star.

I also noticed this. As I really would like to explore an at least "Mars" like looking world, I am going for these orange/red worlds, but they are all GREY/WHITE. Only those with atmosphere seem to look like they are shown on the system map.

This is a bug, and it's annoying. Are there even orange/reddish worlds out there? I have seen some on screenshots, but it was probably mostly due to the sunlight.
 
The issue seems to be with color addition of the default planet color-texture combined with the color of the lighting source. Red stars tend to make yellow planets more red, and blue stars make yellow planets more green. However, if the star is between yellow and red (K-ish), and the planet is red with brown, then the day side ends up being a dull brownish red-yellow.

You can test the true color of some of the planets like this: First find a planet that is nowhere near a nebula, and is directly opposite from Sgr A from the main star. This means that middle of the night side of the planet won't experience the main glow of the Milky Way and will be PITCH BLACK at night.. So if you go to the night side of *some* of the planets that are "RED" in the system map, you find that they really are red in the glow of your headlights.

A VERY cool effect, and very creepy. Beware though, if you find a truly pitch black planet, it is shockingly easy to slip into a ravine or go off a steep unseen cliff when the landscape knocks you around or steers you to one side by uneven friction and bouncing.
 
The reason is because the planets that don't look the same are planets you can land on, and therefore have gotten the procedural generation pass down the surface. Planets that look as they do on the map are planets you can't land on. I imagine you should expect this to change as more planet types become landable, and actual art assets are changed to reflect the generation of the planet.

I noticed this myself after Horizons came out. Before Horizons orange planets on the system map were indeed orange. Post Horizons, orange planets on the system map (at least the landable ones) appear grey...I was quite disappointed the first time I noticed this.
