Engineers Plasmaslug: there is no failsafe

so, i was curious about the plasma slug effect for the PA. The question was, will your PAs drain fuel until
you run out of it and die.

The answer is yes, there is no stop

so watch your fuel gauge, when using Rails/PA with plasma slug effect,
one reload to much and you are dead

On which note...

I wish there was a way to isolate fuel tanks.
For example, they could appear on the right HUD, under the modules tab, and you'd be able to toggle them between "online" and "offline", just like most other systems.

That way you could fit a small "reserve tank" in your ship, fill it up, isolate it and then bring it on line when your main tank is empty.
Probably be quite handy for a variety of purposes.

More ability to manage fuel would definitely be nice. One thing on my wishlist is being able to configure a scooping/refuelling limit lower than your actual capacity, and having the route plotter respect the setting. That way you could carry large tanks for traversing unscoopable regions, but still keep your weight down by not hauling unnecessary fuel in areas with many scoopable stars.

I was thinking a similar thing for fuel-ratting too.
You could fit a couple of optional tanks, isolate them empty, get a decent jump-range to your target and then fill the optional tanks by scooping at the final star.

Course, you can halfass this by just partially filling all your tanks but it'd be nice if there were more options.
I really don't see why, at the least, fuel tanks could be online or offline like most other systems.
Being able to dump fuel would be the cherry on top.

I haven't really seen the point of plasma slug since PA ammo got buffed (same with the railgun mod). It's that 20% damage reduction....ouch. And you can just use synthesis when you run out of ammo.

Explorers have been wishing for this option for.. A while.

Now that combat folk may have a good use for it, perhaps it'll happen.

Oddly, plasma slugs have become quite useful for explorers, due to lack of fuel tank isolation. It allows one to drain the tank to get an absolute max jump.

Z...

There is difference if i have 20 reloads or 50

And i don't the mat space for 5 PAs

So if im use premium ammo on slug rail or slug plasma and the 30% dmg bonus will stay there forever?

the effect stays until you restock or run out ammo and since we are unable to run out ammo we have this effect forever [big grin]

Thanks for spelling that out and good call sir, I have not messed with rails or PA since unlocking engineers, I swapped from Xbox to PC and have been unlocking my ships (my preferred rail loadout is for an FAS)
