it is frustrating isn't it
I have been waiting since October of last year.
I was "failed to be informed" that mine was rejected at some point until early June and put in another request within 48 hours, and have yet to get anything out of Brett or Will.
Not once were we placed accidentally or not in-game, and to make matters worse, the location I had asked for specifically, was taken by someone and put in-game within a week or so that they had requested it.
The last I've heard from either was a copy paste "sorry" email from Will 4 weeks ago with no response.
I've never heard anything back from Brett on discord (or of course this thread)
And mind you, this isn't just small handful of friends... this is SWE expeditions as a faction. Which is literally pushed me over the edge from no longer wanting to be a customer, and pushing a number of people on our discord to follow suite because of this.

IIRC there was a point well before the new system was put into place where they cut off applications, processed rejected applications out, and essentially told people to wait until the new system was rolled out before reapplying.
it took 14 months for us to be placed which happened in April but because of a placement issue (we were placed in Colonia) it took a couple of hours before it was removed and now been waiting another 4 months whilst in communication with relevent parties to sort it to be told use the new system, which as rejected me 3 times now as my PMF name isn't Elite friendly enough (but it was in April).

I have done that even though it was annoying no longer being able to use the name we have had for a few years, now waiting with anticipation to see if my amendments will be approved,

Unfortunately I cannot because the automated process REQUIRES it be what, 150Ly from Sol within the bubble? Or somewhere close to that.
I wouldn't say well before implemented, they asked like two weeks before for people wait. And again, I've been trying since early October of last year.
Even June was looooooong before mention of a new system that pretty much popped up out of nowhere.
Not to mention Brett DID SAY he was going to do all processing of PMFs before the Quarter 2 release, which... never happened.
I cannot comment on processing within the old process.
Don't know what the distance criteria to Sol means and what it would mean for your group however it's currently much easer to identify viable systems.
From all what we can tell you need to find a system with no PMF presence yet and not more than 5 native factions but for instance can have 7 factions in total already if you match the two other criteria.
Plus I believe you need to match the allegiance criteria hence shouldn't try to place a Fed PMF in an Imperial system and vice versa for instance.

lol point being at the end of the day, I've been pushing and and posting / messaging / emailing since October of last year, and a few months ago someone grabbed the location I requested back last year without issue in a matter of days.
My issue is that the new system can't do the locations I've requested and never could because of this Distance-To-Sol limitation in the new system.
And to finish it all off, the fact that I was informed all of this would've been tied up nicely in a bow before 3.1 release, and certainly before / around the new PMF system which crept out of nowhere, and here we are at 3.2 release in a week.
Long story short; I've been waiting for our PMF to go in for 3 major updates (and we all know here exactly how long FDev likes to draw out updates). The new system can't handle what I've requested, and I feel as though my exception should be made because of the timeframe I've been waiting for.
It's not like this hasn't been done before, and the fact that someone swept my original location with ease back in late May / early June only proves how I'm being ignored.
All criteria is accurate and without issue; the only thing not following through is anyone FDev.
I'm just frustrated, that's all. Seeing people that have had to wait 12 or more months, I didn't think I would be one of them but here I am.
Then the other group of people that got added to the game for a day and wiped out just makes me fear more.

Just messaged BrettC and got a response, he said all PMFs on the old system are out of his hands, to ask Customer Support / Will F for updates.

I am in exactly the same boat I applied early last year finally got accepted in April this year but was added to a system that already had a PMF in and was in Colonia!!! we were removed a couple of hours later and then spent the next few months in communication we the relevant community personnel to have my PMF added to a system in the Bubble and being told the engineers are working on it or you will have to wait etc, etc, etc I have also lost a few systems requested which to be honest winds me up has it was like I was getting told what I wanted to hear in one hand and the information was being passed to the other hand and then filed in the bin has they walked by.
Now not only do I not have any of the systems requested I have also had to change my PMF name because it is now not deemed Elite-y enough
All the customer services said to me about the old applications was to forget about them and resubmit on the new system :-( and all emails sent since June/July seem to be getting ignored, It has turned into a joke

Why not just forget about your old applications and just resubmit to a new valid home system using the new process?

Sure, but why not try this time with a name which they're happy to use (and address whatever other reasons that were given)? I'm sure you could find something you like which would be accepted then you can start enjoying this feature instead of being annoyed constantly. Just a thought, because it doesn't look like you're getting anywhere as it is.
Buddy I am not stupid, since the new application system I have put in 3 different variations of names none were deemed Elite-y enough and now a full name change and choose numerous systems, I have been enjoying they game for years, it is the PMF part that I am getting annoyed with
