Trying to comprehend your blathering rant here, it demonstrates that you obviously want something that the game does not provide, and that it probably won't for quite some time.

What was hard to understand about it?

The problem with player-owned stations is the implementation. After a few weeks you will have to travel quite a long way until you find one that isn't owned. Presumably you don't lose the station if you stop playing for a few weeks or a few years so 4 years from now imagine how far you would have to travel to find an unowned station! There is a similar problem with the idea of inhabital asteroids or the inflatable base idea as they would be absolutely everywhere.

I think the best solution would be some form of rental model or voting to be a governor type role so the numbers automatically prune themselves.

after a few weeks you'd have to travel far? There's probably 10 million stars close to the bubble - how do you think the player base is going to fill that up?

I don't think you can own the existing stations - I guess it will be more along smaller bases, like the afore mentioned asteroid bases. Think how many villages you can fit on a single planet - and those stations will be smaller than villages ...

Yes, Sol might be crowded, but doesn't that make sense?

Can any one explain to me what a candidate feature is? I never heard the term, but it sounds to me as if it's a feature that is in line for consideration, but no where near certain to be implemented.

But as I said, don't know the term, I might be wrong.

I'd say your supposition was spot on. Just as in Politics, Candidate could get elected.....equally well defeated by others.....

Your interpretation sounds about right Ziggy.

It's not on the list, but it's a candidate to be added to the list. No timelines, no guarantees....

Player's stations who will combat log along with the players))

You made my morning Sir +1 :D

On a "dreamy" note I would love my guild to own one of those pirate hangouts in Anarchy system (with holo skull & crossbones). The turret opperator would be drunk on grog and would randomly shoot at approaching ships, making docking a lot more "immersive".
We would have a pirate cave in a dark corner of the outpost stuffed with synthesis & rng materials so that none of mine pirate "scumm" would ever have to grind again. We would also have hangars full of A spec ships to help our new bretheren the less fortunate.

Or is it me grog talkin' ?

I'd like a mine that's all mine. I would mine there and mine it so nobody else could mine it... I would have a large half man half bull to show guests round...

That would indeed be awesome. It would be a step in the right direction to an actual multiplayer game. But unfortunately storing stuff for later use is considered an "exploit" for FD :(

I think a lot of you are imagining things on too huge a scale.

A private asteroid base would be nice. Something where up to 4 people could dock (a wing), not something faction owned or guild controlled, etc. Not something that influences system standings. Not something that other people would want/need to come to.

Just something for a player to call home/come hang out in at times.

That it's only a "candidate feature" demonstrates - insofar as a demonstration is needed - how divorced from reality DB and his company really is.

In spite of all the usual, and utterly predictable, nonsense, the desire for a hidey hole of one's own is a simple and fundamental fact of human nature. No, I'll correct that: it's a demonstrable fact throughout the entire animal kingdom.

But DB is still struggling to understand this. I'm not surprised.

This seems both gratuitously hysterical and based on a false assumption that art will invariably imitate life; I have no fundamental desire for a "hidey hole". I had one in SWTOR. I spent about ten minutes in it, got bored and went back to more enjoyable parts of the game.

When i want to stand around deciding what kind of furniture to buy, I'd plan a pretty nice little Saturday with the wife going to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath and Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time...

and now hopefully because you said they will never do it, they will. just despite you...

I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.
