Playing Skyrim...

Next time i play Skyrim, i will bring my ESO Redguard into the game. Two daggers and a bow, with light armour.

Mods are the only reason I haven't re-installed Skyrim on this computer I got 2 years ago now. It was all the mods I had, the specific order of them and all that. Not I don't even think the old Nexus Mod Manager is even free as it used to be (I could be wrong), but either way I have the bought copy CD's so at least I can still have the game as it was when I was still playing without Steam updates that break the mods each time.

This is the same thing with Fallout NV, just too many mods I had and way too much work to get it all back working right again...

Old NMM is still free, just not really updated anymore. They migrated over to something called Vortex, have not tried it yet.

If you do feel the itch, Mod Organizer 2 is free and much better to use. Also has Nexus integration for easier downloads. It does take some time to learn.

Funnily enough, mods are the reason why I postpone another playthrough indefinitely because I just can't be bothered redownloading all the mods and making them work with one another.

Really? Oh cool, then I'll have to look into that. I may have even recorded the proper mod order as well. Plus having them on CD would be easier to manage with the Steam updates. Thanks for that info...

I just bought the legendary edition of skyrim and used vortex to install a bunch of mods. It is free and when there is a conflict between two mods it will pop right up that there is. I just remove one or the other mod and is straightens it right out.
Had zero problems yet playing.

I originally played Skyrim when released, but I was going through a fantasy/RPG burnout at the time and didn't get much more that a few hours into the game. It just didn't grab me... I did that again, a couple of imes, over the next few years, never getting far. Eventually buying the VR version and having the same problem - kind of bored before I got started, because I've been through the start of the game 4 or 5 times... So it has just sat in my Steam library.

A couple of nights ago I decided to give it another bash, in VR. I put in a vew visual mods [for the first time, trying to make my experience as good as possible,] and loaded it up and... Spent 15 hours in-game over two days. o_O

I guess the game finally landed with me, as I'm looking forward to the weekend to sink a bunch of time in there. I'm now glad I never played it through, or much at all, as I get to do it in amazing VR for the first time.

Mod tips? I've only got about 12 loaded right now (textures, nude stuff, lighting, some physics etc) but keen to improove more.

Mod tips?
VRIK - without doubt one of my favourite mods. Finally having a proper shadow in the game and being able to look down and see what you’re wearing, top stuff!

Enhanced Blood & Footprints are worth getting. Also, Obsidian Mountain Fogs to hide distant flickering.

Thanks, Arioch.
Adding 'em now. I came across the footprints one today while looking for hunting mods - thanks for reminding me

Dowload LOOT, it will keep your ESMs and ESPs in proper order. Just run it everytime you install a bunch of mods and it will sort them appropriately.

Also Mod Organizer 2 can detect problems with you load order and give you warnings. It will also let you know if any mods you have downloaded through MO2 have or need to be updated.

Let me know if your planning to use an ENB overhaul because thats a whole other can of worms

:) Currently im a level 32 and would be playing now if removing a reshade hadnt broken something, steam is currently downloading content that will fix my mistake and i will probably spend the rest of the night reinstalling the 40 or so mods i can cant live without.

I did manage to get my two hand skills up this playthrough and decided to keep the rueful axe rather than give it to clavicus vile.
But my archery is at 91 iirc and i have various archery enchantments, so its pretty deadly, when they get close up tho the rueful axe usually puts them down in at most two hits.

Maybe archery is OP, but with the quck draw perk and stagger, you can easily take down a crowd of 4 or 5 even if they rush you.
Neven have been much of a mage beyond dual casting and fast healing.

Vortex and Loot make it as painless as i suppose it could be. Both free the last time i used them (yesterday).

I can't even remember all that I have. First thing is finding the folder where they all were placed, that's my first task :)

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Yeah, I usually wind up with a stealthy archer type, too.

First playthrough was a sword and board type, though. That was the only time I ever used that build much.

I also recommend doing a clean install of skyrim before even getting started on mods. Delete the entire root folder. Also delete your skyrim folder in mydocuments/mygames/skyrim.

I was better at aiming the bow from the crouched position then from standing, so I think that I'm like the OP.

One-shotting creatures that were beyond pop-in range was always amusing too.
