Dinosaurs General Gameplay Please add medium carnivore classification

I don’t think I’m alone when I say this but my biggest annoyance is Large carnivores, and how varied they are you have Majungasaurus that is only slightly larger than the Herrerasaurus... and T-Rex both classes as large carnivores,

I wish that this could be changed so that anything smaller than Allosaurus but larger than Velociraptor(Jurassic lore), should be reclassified as Medium carnivores, and should be able to fight large and small carnivores kinda like the Indoraptor.

Indoraptor should be a unique Medium carnivore as it is still able to insta kill the Iguanodon, Allosaurus on the other hand should also be unique in that it is a large carnivore but still killable by Iguanodon.

Albertosaurus, depending on if it’s larger than Allosaurus or same size should also be able to be killed by Iguanodon, if it’s smaller then obviously it would be reclassified as Medium like all the others that fit the bracket.

Additionally Medium carnivores should fear large carnivores just like small ones do now, and battles between carnivores should be changed slightly so that large carnivores who are equally matched are more likely to fight to the death let’s say 75% chance, if a Medium fights a large the Medium has a 75% chance to back down and run, if a small fights a Medium it has a 75% chance to flee, Medium have a 50% chance to fight to the death against other Medium carnivores, small carnivores are same against other small carnivores and small vs large remains the same, small have a 100% chance to run.... or you could make it 90% and add a new animation where the small attempts to flee but gets grabbed at the last minute by the large carnivore.

I know this is a hell of a lot to take in and hopefully I’ve made it as simple as possible to understand what changes I would love to see other than this you guys are on the right track to creating the game I hoped JWE would be at release.

I've requested for an Albertosaurus, so glad it came to pass. But I have 1 more carnivore, I'll take the Utahraptor. It should be a medium carnivore being that it's the biggest raptor.

Isn't it kinda weird we're using one dinosaur -Iguanodon- to classify others?

I suggest 3 carnivore size categories:
  1. Large carnivores: can instakill Iguanodon, using the very same animation they use for other hadrosaurians.
  2. Medium carnivores: can fight Iguanodon.
  3. Small carnivores: can fight Iguanodon, and live alongside large or medium carnivores (except for Indoraptor).

  • Large and Medium carnivores should still fight each other.
("Responsible" gameplay-wise, classification wouldn't make any difference.)
  • Indoraptor should be a Medium size carnivore, with Iguanodon being able to fight and/or kill it.

    And...
This is something I would love, but being realistic probably won't happen
  • Spinoraptor should be reclassified as a small carnivore.

It is weird yes however, Iguanodon is perfect since the ingame code considers some large dinosaurs to be classified differently to others.

I understand what your saying about Indoraptor it the whole idea is that it’s psycotic and monstrous and hyper aggressive so Iguanodon’s flight takes over the fight response.

Also enabling all the dinosaurs to interact differently dispensing on classification..

1) increases difficulty, since the game is very easy, and imho that’s the most boring part.

2) increases the diversity of animation even if there’s only like 4 animation loops added... it would make the game more immersive.

3) making the large carnivores have a low chance to insta-kill small carnivores would be much more realistic, because as it stands the hyper aggressive small carnivores, just square up with large ones and get away with it, it would imo make the game better since how many times do the Velociraptor’s square up with Rexy in the film and survive? And how many raptors survive the squaring up with the I-Rex? Only blue because of plot armour.

So it would just add all round more difficulty, depth, replay-ability, fun, distinction, immersion and realism, and with photo mode and all the new bits coming it would just make sense to have this happen in like 1.9 or 2.0..

My favourite bits of JPOG where seeing the T-Rex or Spino eat raptors or see the raptors attack the large carnivores when they rampaged..

Agreed, I think the carnivores should be roughly classified as follows:

LARGE:
Indominous Rex
Tyrannosaurus Rex
Spinosaurus
Giganotosaurus
Acrocanthosaurus
Carcharodontosaurus
Allosaurus

MEDIUM:
Suchomimus
Carnotaurus
Ceratosaurus
Baryonyx
Majungasaurus
Metriacanthosaurus
Indoraptor
Spinoraptor

SMALL:
Herrerasaurus
Velociraptor
Deinonychus
Proceratosaurus
Dilophosaurus
Troodon

As for Albertosaurus, it remains to be seen since we don't know exactly how big it is just yet, but it looks to be roughly Allosaurus size so it should probably be at the bottom of the Large Carnivores class or at the top of the Medium Carnivores class. Although I think arguments could be made as to whether or not Allosaurus itself should be put in the Large Carnivore class to begin with, since it serves as nearly a perfect middle ground between Suchomimus and Carcharodontosaurus.

I agree, although am I the only one who thinks Allosaurus is more fitting for the medium carnivore category?

It's weird, because the in-game Allosaurus is around 40ft long according to the game's database, so normally it's hard to call something that big only "medium" sized. Although since the other big boys are so oversized that they make the Allosaurus look puny by comparison, it doesn't seem so inappropriate. I think you can definitely make a case for why it should be considered a medium class carnivore.

I was just going based off of this chart. Many people are placing Carnotaurus into the medium cateogry and Allosaurus into the large category, but if this chart is accurate, they're very identical in regards to size. Again, I'm only assuming that this chart is accurate but I feel as if the size difference between, for example, Allosaurus and T. Rex is much more drastic than, say, Allosaurus and Metriacanthosaurus, making it more appropriate for Allosaurus to be considered "medium," but I digress from the main point of this thread.

I don't recall the Allosaurus looking THAT tiny compared to the big 5 so I'm not sure about the accuracy of this chart. Not only does it contradict the game's own database, but in terms of sizes differences, there are definitely some questionable aspects here on display. For one, the chart also makes the Acrocathosaurus look significantly shorter than T-rex. Yet in the game, they look pretty similar in height, at least in terms of their neutral standing/walking posture. Go to 4:56 for reference.

The game's database also describes the Velociraptor at around 5'7" yet it's visibly taller than the human silhouette, so either the human silhouette stands at a minuscule 5'3" or one of these is inaccurate between the game and the chart.

Isn't the Dreadnoughtus suppose to be 15% bigger than the BRACHIOSAURUS?
