Almost all games rely on rare/unique items drop, or similar strategies, to improve longevity and fun. At the moment, i think ED is very repetitive and annoying, mostly because it's very pointless to go bounty killing once you realize how MUCH more money you could earn with trading and other tricks.
Let's face it: you may have the best fitted war ship of the universe, and have not fired a laser once; you just do trading escalation and then you buy a full fitted Anaconda. That's one of those sad "real world" things that should NOT be in games and especially in one called "Elite: Dangerous", where one expects that the danger is the experienced hunter, not the random station crash that makes you lose 1kk cargo. I mean, it's ok to buy an Anaconda with only money, but a great bounty hunter should be able to fit it with better items, or better leverage its features, because... because of its experience, because "money can't buy that", because "he knows how to fit that +1 item", because it means more fun for all.
So, why don't you add rare/unique items or event drops, for example:
- kills could sometimes grant randomly generated unique/rare drops, just like slightly different weapons or plans for them, with more power, or lighter, or with some additional effect (e.g., always penetrate to FSD, consumes slightly less power, ...), that you could not find anywhere else and bound to your account.
- also for other "jobs": trading could sometimes let you find "special" sellers that only sell specific items to you, etc
Thank you
