We know now that there are missing bits of information
Assassinations are not shown (BUG)
There is no entry for anarchy kills BUT this might well be stored in a hidden field only available to ED
7 pages of guesses, some good ones.
The programmers have made a simulation, I suppose. In that simulation( which is a guess itself so I get the irony) You spend a huge amount of credits on a ship or scanner or laser. They do not include an instruction manual, is this normal in Europe?
I am having a great time in game, but I think that this is a half baked cake. Or the programmers have got my cash and are laughing at me!
I can tell you 100% that the number of bounties collected IE kills is irrelevant to your rank I got MH without an increase in that number in an anarchy system killing an expert.
11 kills at harmless
11 kills at MH
I wonder if it has anything to do with number of ship losses? Could be that you accrue points towards your next rank up for each kill / bounty and lose points for a ship loss. This could explain the disparity with a few of the CMDRs.
Combat bonds appear to have much higher weight than bounties.
Either because the war zones have higher ranked enemies or because wanted criminals can have multiple bounties on their heads.
I guess milk warzones for faster ranking.

The statistics do not fit with that conclusion......
T-dog and Szyslak's do. They both have more bonds than
bounties and got Master & Dangerous with fewer total tracked kills than most of us.
Hello Commanders!
Your Pilot's Federation Combat Rank increases based on rank disparity, so kills in anarchies count. This is separate from reputation with factions (which is also logged in anarchies) and crimes (which are not logged in anarchies). Hope this helps a bit.
Hello Commanders!
Sorry, I'm not trying to be cryptic!
So, with regards to combat rating: you make bigger gains when you destroy ships with a higher combat rating than yourself.
Legality does not factor into this equation: a pirate who kills lots of ships with higher rank will increase their rank appropriately. What makes them a pirate is their ability to steal and sell cargo from other vessels.
Is this any clearer (I may be missing the point)?
Hello Commanders!
Ya, I see what's happened here, I think. That patch note line is a little out of context thanks to its brevity. Basically, the place in the code that determines what combat rank points are awarded has moved from the code that dealt with murder crimes to somewhere else.
So really, it ought to say: don't award combat skill points when committing a murder... because we now add them at another point in the flow.
Apologies for the confusion, folks!
So combat rating increases currently only look at the ranks of the ships involved.
