Please could we have a station cargo storage area?

So I came to the game after a long break and see that the cargo missions have changed and that you can now load cargo in batches, a great idea really.

I picked a mission to transport 180 cargo and then changed to my Imperial Cutter to load it all up.

I then started plotting a route and found that I'd missed that it was to medium pad so would need a smaller ship. Unfortunately there's no way to unload the cargo once you've loaded it. The only way to proceed is to dump the cargo and abort the mission. Sometimes I want to jump on, speed run a bunch of cargo missions and then go to bed. So that put me in a bad mood for the evening![mad]

It got me thinking about it though, and a cargo storage depot would be an interesting feature, it would help people like me when they make mistakes with the landing pad, but it could possibly open up an interesting gameplay mechanic.

You could haul some cargo most of the way to an area with a large ship, then ferry it the last bit of the way in a smaller ship.

It may have some affect on balance but I think it'd be worth it.

You could place conditions on it like the cost of storage is X% of the galactic average for the commodity. The player could be charged once upon storing the cargo, and then charged again when retrieving the cargo for every additional 24 hours the cargo has been stored. There could be a limit on the storage too, maybe 1000 tons, and you can only store cargo at one station at a time. Maybe you could forfeit the cargo remotely if the retrieval cost is too high or remotely if you want to store something at a new station.

I think the solution to this problem, would simply be to be able to "deliver" the cargo to the mission at the source station again, and then switch ship and load the cargo back to the other ship, and now you can change outfitting of the ship too.

Yeah definitely, being able to give back the cargo would be great. But I still think the feature to store a limited amount of cargo would be nice little feature.

Honestly for hoarders and collectors like me, it's passed time this was a thing. I've been wanting to create a rare goods collection, Hutton Mug here, Lave Brandy there, Xihe sex robo..... i mean Biomorphic Companions over there.

Point is, everyone has a hobby, and the use of a some kind of cargo storage would be great, ability to store and ship like ship and module storage is, would be FANTASTIC, especially since carriers are coming out, so it would be great to be able to buy stuff in a station, store it, and when you carrier is nearby, use shipping to send it out there.

For most people they tend to make this error once or twice until common sense kicks in or pointed out if you use Galaxy map/system map and research your destination before switching to larger ships.
