Please create in-game poll(s)

The current discussions on the new exploration, crime and punishment system, ganking... This forum is unable to reach consensus or make decisions, but it would be really good to know what the actual majority thinks. IMO it would be useful for FD, too, however unbinding to you if your direction of development is different.

The only way to get a meaningful majority opinion of the currently playing population would be to ask the question before one can press the "start" button with an option to skip the survey. My suggestion is to ask such questions in this way and posting the results.

Alternatively you could just post final decision and prevent endless and pointless debates.

for a good look at why polls don't work and I don't want to become Politically, see Brexit Referendum. People were given two options, which didn't reflect all angles of possible ways. Like do you want PP-Open Only, Favor PP-Open or remove some PP Activities from Solo/PG, Increase the Punishment of Gankers, do nothing about it or implement a new Risk/Reward Balance(My take on the issue) for it.
Discussion is the only way to reach a consensus. FDev just needs to get a better Handle of the Discussion: highlighting different valid positions, they would consider, have people discuss them and then repeat this process until a consensus is reached, instead of just letting the discussions boil on itself like they currently do.

I don't think games should be designed according to majority opinions, because a majority of those majority opinions might be the result flawed judgements, lack of insight in gamedesign, or a thousand other afflictions.

Make it a community goal. Take all the differing opinions. Give them all a faction. The people that put in the most effort win.

The day major game design is decided by CG is the day I will die of laughter. What Activity would you choose? Shooting Space bugs to decide about PP? Mining to decide about C&P? Even if it kinda fits, not having the proper tools(like a fully combat engineered ship) would mean your voice would count less.

No as I said, FDev's Game Designer are the ones, who need to make the shot, with their Community Management getting a meaningful Discussion going, that creates a Cycle of: Game Design Ideas from FDEV -> Players Discuss Each -> Refined Feedback gets back to Game Design. Repeat until a consensus is reached/the Game Designers got a clear vision of how the players perceive each design and can make a better choice.

I too am very glad the development of the game is not a democracy, don't get me wrong. I also wrote that alternatively FD could just post final decisions and end the debates.

Like: "ADS will not be returned to previous form nor will there be any black blobs shown". There, end of the debate. FD not commenting any of the issues is the main engine.

I say no. How hard would it be for someone to influence that poll? I think Frontier having whoever has the game they Email us is the best idea. Because it prevents players from having 15 different Forum accounts to change a poll in their liking.

Please, atbleast read the title of the thread. In-game. Multiple accounts, as mentioned, is more.of a problem, though if someone purchased the game twice, he may as well vote twice. IIRC one platform was given two accounts to begin with, I don't know what to do there.

Any poll results would just be an info to put things into perpective, not an instruction for game development.

Frontier have all the metrics they need to make their design decisions. There are rare occasions where we get to influence a variable here and there, but personally I'm happy leaving design to the designers.

Well I guess you're not thinking about the launcher if you want to switch accounts You have to use a different Email and PW. Don't you think Frontier Launcher would be able to track of that and use the Oldest Account as the one to send the Poll to? That leaves One Poll per Elite Launcher.

How would Frontier determine whether one or more players played on the same PC?

When more than one family member shares a computer they tend to have a different computer login for privacy reason. When you enter that computer. I don't think it would be far fetched to be able to use some of that info to make the polls fair. It's not like me who has one computer log in and able to switch 1 of 3 accounts from the same Elite launcher login.

Yet "tend to" is not definitive - it depends on whether a household feels the need to segregate their PC access.
