Please fix the Alt F4 exploit

I totally understand that too and in that instance why don't you play in the mobius group as then you're guaranteed to have no chance of a hostile encounter with another player?

In regards to the repercussions for player killing I totally agree with you on that as well and so do frontier as they're planning on making a bunch of changes to the game mechanics to compensate. Just because the game mechanics right now doesn't deal with things as well as they could it's bad form to recommend an exploit to combat it. The income from mining was bad and there was an exploit to mine the same asteroid constantly, instead of telling everyone to use the exploit you wait for them to fix it. True the income from mining still isn't good but that's a different point entirely.

Man, we're on two different pages here. I play along with the Pirates and give them some cargo or outrun them. My complaint is when I'm bounty hunting in my little asp and someone shows up in a python and kills me for no reason. They acquired nothing from it. They're exploiting the poor penalties of the game for kicks, well I'm exploiting the peer to peer network to deny them that.

THAT was a real exploit though... Alt-F4'ing isn't

It is if it affects another players game and it will if it's used in other situations. I always use the same example : If you've chased a comander through several systems and he had a 500K bounty on his head and he combat logs when you've got him down to 10% hull then it's an exploit. You have to pay for ammo and any damage suffered and if you're in a system where he's clean (you've seen his bounty on KW scanner) you've also got fines to pay for as well.

As long as it's in the game there will be someone out there using it as suck. That player with the bounty could even be a "griefer", whacking newbs outside a starter station in a python . . .

/grin

You mad bro?

*couldn't resist*

We all have opinions.. It's true, it's just that.. Mine are right!

This 4chan inspired trolling stuff is pretty childish and outdated man. You're not funny and you're not actually geting anyone mad you're just behaving stupidly and appearing pretty dumb.

What if they were doing it for infamy (most wanted list). Reasonable?

Would you change your reaction if they were given a 100K bounty instead? Just seems like you don't want to get blown up is the principle reason.

Next time you go bounty hunting, don't attack any wanted CMDR's flying lesser ships than you. Only attack other asps, to do otherwise would make you a hypocrite based on what you just said.

That's fair play as well and I understand that. Even though you're exploiting the log off for a good reason rather than waiting for FD to sort out harsher penalties the longer the exploit stays in the game the easier it is for legitimate greifers to use it for nefarious purposes as per my previous post.

Instead of spreading around the illusion that sometimes it's ok to exploit it opens up the existence of the exploit to a wider range of players who would have been none the wiser in the first place.

I've lost many a ship to other players. They want to attack someone with a ridiculously superior ship, then say it's unfair when their victim combat logs. Give me a break...

Honestly it was just for a laugh, and I know nobody is mad. I know for a fact that I'm very funny thank you very much.

Interesting you'd say that. Frontier pretty quickly patched out the ability to disconnect from within the client during combat. That kinda says to me that taking even further steps to intentionally crash out the client is maybe, just a little bit, within the realm of an "exploit".

Grabbing a common definition of exploit off the internet gets me this: "In video games, an exploit (colloquially sploit) is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, or speed, etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers."

Arguments about shield cells aside, I'm pretty sure a "instantly save your ship with a couple button presses" falls into the "not intended by game designers" category.

Either way, I still mark a disconnect as a win in my book. If I'm just that scary with an interdiction, imagine what I can pull off when shots actually get fired!

They're not attacking you because their ship is 'superior', they're attacking it because you can't run away. Maybe your choice of flying an Asp is something to abide by.

Live by the sword and all that.

Would that simply be exploiting the mechanics of networking and physics, or would there be an alt + F4 button to 'exit life', logon later kind of thing.

Anyways, made my point. Weaklings leave the game IMO. Ivory towers and all that. ;)

You're alright. It'd be illegal to DDOS someone and it'd be childish for me to do it.

It seems you'll log off whenever it suits you and you've put up a few thinly veiled reasons why you would. It seems more like you do it because you can't handle losing. To me that's just something you could do better at coping with, and something FD can address in (their) game.

Stick and stones... blah blah Tomato Tomato.

Everyone has their buttons that can or can't be pushed, if that's what you're going for /shrug

At the end of the day whoever had fun wins :) I always have fun playing this game... Always.

They could but mark my words... Since Beta.. they haven't and they WON'T.. Ever.

Eventually it will get to the point that pirates or whatever will only interdict other player combat ships or npc traders, smart traders move to solo to amass money then return to open in combat ships for that aspect of the game.
