Please fix the FSS minigame...

So it's no secret I don't like it... I hate it even, but I do have a legitimate complaint that no one can argue (well realistically anyways).

When in the minigame menu, if you play with mouse and keyboard like a good chunk of PC users... the FSS menu even with uber high sensitivity requires me to constantly do the old school method of picking up my mouse and repositioning it on my desk to keep scrolling through the system. Why does it not have mouse movement / deadzone like the normal flight model when mouse handles both pitch and yaw? This is really inconvenient when having to fully rotate around a system.

Can we seriously get a fix for that? It's really tedious to use my mouse in such a 90s fashion as if I were using a rollball mouse or a trackball, and not an optical / laser mouse at the end of 2018.

Because it is how PC mouse works? Pitch/yaw flight model you speak of is simple pad hat emulation. Scrolling large areas always required mouse reposition on desk. I still remember my Freespace fights with mouse as main controller. Game refused to recognize joystick I then had so I had to furiously swipe and repo my mouse to maintain the turn. Fun times.

Umm, no, I like the way the FSS works for me (nd yes I do it all with the mouse, the only exception is the DSS where I still use the HOTAS).

Stupid question I know, but have you tuned down/up the sensitivity setting for the mouse in the DSS?

I've not had this; I use my same HOTAS configuration (or hell, kb) and it's fine. Is what you're seeing, default?

I use my mouse, works fine. Adjust the sensitivity, should help you.

I like the new system, very fast and easy. No more long cruises to each body and waiting for the scan to complete.

That particular sensitivity is at max, its not enough, I have limited space to use a mouse as is (and setting up a HOTAS setup is not possible nor would I invest in that expense for one game, same thing about a controller, I'm a PC gamer dangit!). Having to manually move my mouse around like that whereas flight itself has never been an issue is troublesome, it makes it more clunky to use than it should be. Sure for those with a game pad or a HOTAS i imagine its easy, but since all games designed in the history of gaming are first designed ON A PC before being ported to it's rightful console (like say any nintendo game, even Smash Bros was designed on a PC first) or a control scheme like a HOTAS is put in, it has to be done on a mouse first.... so why the lack of care?

That's not what im talking about. I'm talking about how FSS sensitity in the blue screen minigame is obnoxious since it doesnt use the flight controls to swivel around the system and I have limited zoom out. I have to reposition my mouse on my desk after about a foot.

I agree with PX here - it's not too bad with the FSS mouse X & Y sensitivity set to max, but you still have to pick up the mouse every so often. It's not nice and smooth like the click & drag of the galaxy map.

I use the keyboard (WASD) to move around the FSS view as the mouse got annoying, but unfortunately that's quite slow - it'd be good if that had a "speed" setting too...

I use HOTAS but mouse for the FSS and it works just fine. 360 degree turns equal roughly 1/2 of my mousepad's space (height/width are equal for me).
And that is with 25% sensitivity settings ingame. Maybe increase DPI of your actual mouse?

I use HOTAS for moving around with my FSS, seems ok if set as the main axis. I like it a lot.

I found I use the keyboard for the big long moves, and the mouse to zero in once in the local area.

Works a a charm and no lifting required.

Lol, I feel your pain. Do you also get stared at by the missus because of the mouse clunking....I do, but I have learnt to ignore the daggers.

Using hats on the warthog. Also depends on your mouse, mine goes to 16000 dpi and that is just insane, it is set at 800 for me.

The aim function is my small gripe, a little more leeway please :)
