Please give us a way to "sneak" through Tresspass Zones at Planetary Settlements

Whether it's via hacking into the sensor network, disabling a sensor, a 'stealth' SRV, silent running mode for SRVs, or whatever works - I want a way to carefully sneak my way into these planetary settlements.

Or maybe even use my accumulated rank to negotiate with a local contact to permit safe me entry into said base, like requesting docking permission...? ;)

I've been given two tip-offs now, one for Jang O and one for Nguna - ones that I've had to abandon by now - that have sent me to planetary settlements that are unsafe to approach *at all* thanks to having a tresspass zone.

If I attack anything (because everything is marked as "Clean") or even so much as linger too long in that zone, I get fined, all the things start shooting at me, and bounties start accumulating even more swiftly than my SRV gets dispatched by the panoply of base defenses.

This is kind-of why I've strictly avoided planetary settlement missions of *any* kind ever since Horizons came out.

I don't "get" what else I'm supposed to do. I do not accept the premise that I *must* embrace becoming a violent criminal to proceed with the 'quest' here. I'd rather not play the story at all if that's what it means.

Please give me a way to proceed with these! If it means I have to be a *sneaky* criminal - but can get away clean if I'm careful - then that's a fine compromise.

Well it's a base. It has defenses. You're not supposed to enter.

There's other tipoffs that have sent me to bases that did *not* have a trespass zone up (but did get offended if I scanned any "Private" items, like ones to open up security doors), I have no problem with those - because there are ways for me to proceed how I wish.

I'll admit that I had similar problems when I first tried these bases. After a while, I began to see similar low security bases of the same type and size, and have since learnt the location of the data core terminal you are required to scan. This means that I can run in, do my scan, and run out again (while being chased by mad skimmers and base defenses) before I get destroyed.

I get damaged, and sometimes I don't succeed at all. But it's invigorating.

I agree with what the OP is saying here though - it would be nice to have an alternative means of infiltrating these bases, even if it means expending extra effort to do so.

IMHO, the trespass zone should just be a zone, where if a skimmer or turret spots your SRV, you're in trouble, immediately. You can hang around as long as you want, providing no one sees you.
Give skimmers "fields of view" and regular patrol routes, then sneaking in is possible. And fun.
Turrets should also have scanning arcs.
And all turrets and skimmers can be hacked, to be disabled temporarily, or fire on each other. Or even take direct control of a powerful AA turret, and take out the ships flying overhead.

For trespassing in a ship, you get the usual warning to leave.

If these Tip Off bases are anything like that list of settlements where we can farm 50 CIFs every two weeks, you can ninja the scans in your SRV.

Now where's that link…

Absolutely! Exclusion zones should not equal detection zones. Skimmers already have their little blue scanning beams, would be great if you could observe for a bit for any patterns to their patrolling and then attempt to penetrate a base dodging between the skimmers and any other sensors.

Even the "you're in trouble immediately" I'd prefer to be "warning, vacate the area immediately and do not return" and have a skimmer "escort" you out. If they catch you a second time, then it's trouble. Of course difficult to track with people relogging and stuff to try again, so either set a permanent flag on your save (which might expire after a day or so) or, as you suggested, no warnings at all within the zone.

I agree with the OP's sentiments. There is no such thing as an impenetrable and infallible security system in the world. While there might be kinks in the security's defenses, there should be ways to exploit and even bring down those security defenses for easier egress into the base for performing mission requirements.

Might be better to have the devs actually approach how trespass would be detected, and simulate that, instead of a kill-box.

You have a wave scanner, why not the skimmers? Seismic sensor, optical and thermal cameras. Laser grid 'tripwires'.

Instead of spoiling for a fight. Go Temple of Doom on the player. The 'trespass' zone just lets the computer inform you that if you're spotted, hostile action will be taken. It is up to the player to sneak past skimmers, avoid motion/seismic/optical sensor fields of view, hop laser tripwire perimeters, avoid laser gates, and stay OFF radar. (No high jumping or dropping in with your ship in the middle of everything.) You don't 'lose' because you failed to sneak. Sneaking just allows you to get deeper into an op before you start having to fight your way out. Unless you're perfect at stealth. Maybe add mission bonus payouts for perfect stealth ops.

So whats your saying is ya want a role or ability to be a infiltrator? I support this. Great idea. think the title is there just need the mechanics!

I am all for game mechanics that allow a clever, stealthy commander to sneak into these facilities unnoticed.....at least initially. I also like the idea of a "stealth" version of the SRV that sacrifices hull for stealth & increased difficulty to hit.

Yeah. A bit of solid snake style sneaking into bases would be cool. I have a mission to find a terrorist suspect, but first I need to hack into a data terminal. No issues with hacking into a terminal (kind of fun) but the base is a +++ high security which is pretty hard in a lone SRV. As soon as I cross the trespass zone all hell breaks loose ...

Really not worth it for 700k.
