Please help me disable the flashing gun and laser effects... I can't play the game as is.

Hello. Every time I fire a weapon a bright flash fills my screen. This is really bothering me and it has gotten to the point that I don't want to play.
Apart from this the game is amazing, so someone please help me disable these flashes. Is there a mod I can download that would reduce this flashing? A config file I could modify?
Is there a weapons system that doesn't flash? So far I've only tried the starting machine guns and lasers.
Any ideas for ways around this problem?

tried beam lasers? they are a constant beam so probably less flashy for you

Unfortunately, there are no mods/api settings to disable the flashing/flickering of lighting effects in the game.

Why not? An OPTION to disable it or reduce it was the request, not for everyone to have it disabled permanently. I think it's a fair question if it affects that person's ability to play properly.

A "low" lighting setting that reduced effects, glare and flashes would be welcomed by a lot of people, especially the color blind, though they would prefer actual color blind modes. I see no problem with introducing this setting as long as Frontier doesn't do what they did with the HUD effects when they both made it look like crap AND added a disable option.

Oh that's all right then. It's okay folks Lysander has no issues, so everything is fine. Alternatively we might want to consider that others might have issues due to disabilities or just their set up that makes the game unplayable. Adding extra option for those people doesn't hurt anyone, just saves people leaving the game.

I saw a cool interview with one of the graphic designers on Journey. His primary motivation behind the camerawork in that game was to not give his partner motion sickness when playing the game (she can't play most games because of this).

There is nothing bad about it, provided it's a toggleable option.

Just being a bit cynical here, there need to be a lot with the same issue before it is profitable to make this feature. The cost of implementing it must be lower than keeping, or gaining specific customers with that specific problem.

It sounds a bit odd that your screen would flash, do you have any special settings for it?, I ask because lasers shouldn't cause a screenwide flash?

I have this problem with fixed pulse lasers. The laser effect is in the exact same place every time and after a while my eyes just rebel against it and I have to stop playing. I wish we could adjust the laser strobe so it wasn't so intense, or adjust the color of the beams or something, anything.

Don't think its opposed at least not by me, the problem just sounds odd.

That said.

Have you tried using a custom colour profile for your monitor, those can be switched easily.
