Curious as Sally said...

Which doesn't exactly support your assertion, does it?

ED has been bugged since I started playing in 2017... Some persistent ones, some new ones... But none 'gamebreaking' in my play - you, naturally may not have been so fortunate.

Let's assume that FD will put all of their effort, as mentioned in their company propogands, into their successful management games and stop developing ED - it is as likely as any other suggested course of action put forward on this forum.

Servers off for the games 10th birthday? Seems reasonable...
My friend, I wasn't expecting anyone leaving to say bad words on their departure. It's not expected. And Sally, was indeed very passionate about this game, that's why I have the impression she was hurt in the last months by various cicrumstances. I'm sure she did not make the decision lightly. Of course, all these are speculation on my part, the way I perceive little details on the forums (especially the locked threads). We'll never know, it's all subjective, a matter of perception.

But my perception is also that the game is shrinking, mainly because of the little details. I fully expect game-breaking bugs to be given top priority. It's the small bugs that remain that make me worry, those that show they don't have time for attention to detail (meaning no money to spend and no dev/artist/technician time to allocate).

Personally I prefer not to speculate on the reasons people leave when they have given a perfectly reasonable explanation in the post announcing they are leaving.

That's nice and all, but my post you quoted was referring to those very loud people who aim to transfer the game into something completely different (cue Liberty Bell March) - there's literally posts here demanding to make Elite like Starfield, because it is so much better - or even better, telling people to abandon Elite in favor of whatever the current favorite amongest them is. You left that out conveniently. But I'm sure those people care very much about the game.

Yes, but I found the part about the moaning a bit ironic, so I had to comment on that and didn't have much time.
I think I am one of those people, too, I'd really like to see parts of Starfield in Elite. I very much enjoy walking in my ship, building it (them), modifying them. I like building and trying out things. It's very immersive, it gives substance to the game. Same with outpost building, I very much enjoy it. But Elite is in my heart (that's why I'm moaning) and I'd really like to have this enjoyment here.
And yes, there have been times I've skipped the animation and exited my ship directly without walking. But I spent 70€ to have the privilege of getting bored, and I would have preferred to have spent the money to FDev for such gameplay, and I think so they would have, too. I'm so annoyed with the direction of ED that I'm not spending a single euro until I see some changes I like.

Change is part of life, stagnation is death. I can see the counter-argument that "Thargoids are change, too", but sorry, I don't like this kind of change. Everything is subjective, I know, I'm only human.

My main cmdr is on his FC, with his whole fleet, about 35,000ly from the bubble, towards the east, exploring. I spent some time salad hunting, earned around 400m for minimal time, but it's not a gameplay I enjoy. And I'm tired of seeing the same rocks on multiple planets (especially those twin round ones, that leave a "V" empty space between them, you'll probably know which ones I mean). I wish there was something more to do on planet surfaces, build some mining equipment, gather resources to make ship modules, I don't know, something more than walking around.

Also, there have been objections about every major change. Engineers, FSS, Odyssey, Thargoids. There have been players that moved on because of some of these (but stayed in the forums ;) ) and players that embraced them. Maybe ship internals could attract some players. With the state of FDev, though, all this is wishful thinking.

I know we're all passionate about this game, and passion is expressed in many ways, good and bad. I'm not the enemy.

you're not wrong here about the necessity of change and development (there are a few very toxic figures on the forums that crap on everything in every thread because they were discontent with a change made years ago, and for some reason they left the game but still crappost here), but you know what I mean.

There are too many very vocal voices here that not only tell us how bad pretty much every aspect of the current game design is (and how they could have done better if Frontier only had asked them, because apparently game design for the masses is "easy"), but also how it would be so much better and successful if it conformed to their personal version of dreams.txt, and that ranges from making it a micromanaging mess like SC, including demands for silly stuff like mini arcades or eating and drinking for "immersion", to removing all the bits that make the game the least bit challenging, transforming it basically into a dumb action arcade shooter. You've been around, I'm sure you've seen all those. That's who I strongly oppose against.

I'm not against change, but I happen to be in the camp that likes the changes the Thargoid war brought to the game, and I also did like the changes Odyssey brought to the game too, so maybe that's an easy and comfortable position to argue from - call me a conformist, but I'm pretty content with the current state of the game (bugs notwithstanding). As for dreaming up any kind of big changes and new features, we both know that that ain't happening, so it doesn't really help to post "we need ship interiors to save the game" or "new ship when" or "I'm a backseat game dev, the game could be so successful if it just did X, which is something I happen to like | which is something game Y does already", especially when those posts get more and more obnoxious every time.

And on principle I oppose people who claim to speak for "the community" with out a mandate from said community. I can't stand that ;).

To make one thing clear: I do not think the game is bad.

It is time to improve at the right aspects though.
The problem is that there are about 3 times as many opinions as to what needs improving, how it needs improving and how much it should be improved than there are copies of the game sold.

But who decides which aspects are correct?

At least that!

I'd love to be able to play as absolute scum, with a Pirates Federation option, complete with mission boards, ain't gonna happen though...
