Please make Elite Stars (prestige) ranks retroactive.

With Odyssey we got 5 more "Elite Stars" ranks in each category, to allow is to progress beyond Elite. Hate it or love it, I think that as it stands now, it's a broken system - it doesn't take retroactive progress into account.

This means that when you see someone with Elite 3 or even Elite 5, they might have significant less progress than someone that's "just" Elite, simply due to WHEN they made progress in the category.
I find that this completely invalidates the entire concept. As such I made a ticket here to get retroactive progress taken into account for the new ranks.

I know it's not a huge game play issue per se, but I still feel it should be addressed. If you agree, feel free to upvote/comment on this issue:

Likely the counter was not moved after max rank. Perhaps this information is just not present
This might be true for combat rank, but it most definitely isn't true for trading (uses trade income) and exploration (uses exploration income). Those stats are readily available in the codex. Combat is different since it depends on ship kills, ranks and delta between your rank and the killed ships rank, and people in the party etc.

Have you checked Inara? There are people on there with Elite V rankings which makes me think it is indeed retrospectively applied.

The test would be if you have Elite I on Inara but Odyssey just shows Elite - in which case they might not have implemented changes to the UI in game yet.

I just checked my ship panel and those new ranks not showing up for me.
Do you have an account on Inara? If so, can you look there and see if any of your ranks are Elite I or above?

The reason I think the UI might not be showing the new ranks in Odyssey yet is because I would expect all my Elite ranks to show progress to Elite I, not maxed-out Elite.

My Inara ranks are Elite, with 17,164,262,783 Cr trading income and 4,723,780,824 Cr in exploration income. People with higher ranks likely did something to earn it after the patch.

I have noticed the same, progress bars show Elite and no progress to new ranks. Just refreshed INARA and it shows Elite for combat, trade and exploration.

I first noticed the trade Elite V ranks on Inara and checked the profiles of the people who had a publicly viewable credit history and they had perhaps suspicious amounts of recent income.

I am also surprised by the fact that these new ranks (Elite stars) are not bound to the total experience of your character in game.
I am at least 15-20 times Elite in exploration and I have much more experience than a player just 1 time Elite.
Elite stars ranking should acknowledge this full experience (and not just from latest DLC).
As FD has the full statistics of players, they should produce a ranking according to full time player statistics (and not only Odyssey).

I don't think they can make it retroactive or backdate it, it would take too much work.

You want to be Elite V? Let's say in trade ... as an example ... if you have gotten to Elite in trade, you already know what to do, you're already good enough ... getting to Elite V would be simple ... yes it might mean more time, but it would not be hard.

If you're not already Elite in a rank, then it makes no difference.

I'd rather the devs spent time fixing the bugs and making Odyssey run better than trawl through the entire history of what every player has done just to make some of them Elite V

There would be no balancing if it was retroactive... to have any meaningful challenge to old players it would require the ranks to be basically impossible to newer folks.

This is like asking for retroactive experience when a MMO increases the level cap, the point is to challenge you and everyone else equally from the point the expansion released.

That said, if the duping exploits remain unfixed, the elite+ ranks you are already seeing around are the trade ones. Exploration would only be possible for legit folks who have been out in the black for a long time and had a lot to turn in.
