PLEASE MAKE POWERPLAY IN "OPEN ONLY"

Sony and MS also were in clear knowledge that to access open you had to pay them. Nobody complained to sony and ms it seems.
So they created their networking charges especially so people could play elite in open? or maybe they had a product of their own involved...

Well, it benefits them on all online gaming softwares, if consumers are ok with paying for a basic right to access the internet, that is on them to accept it blindly.
But they didn't anticipate that a subset of the pvp crowd in a single game would be pushing for a change that upsets their whole business model... They should have had more foresight.

But in principle they cannot access it because of MS and sony decision, not FD's.
Frontier consciously chose to implement Powerplay in all three game mode, for all players, and it forms part of the base game that every player has bought. Some players want that decision changed. Changing that decision would mean that some players would lose access to Powerplay.
the pvp argument is not a rule written in stone for all to observe, same as changing game requirements.
It may or may not be set in stone - however the fact that PvP remains optional in all game features (along with the recent restatement that the BGS is for all players on all platforms and in all game modes) might suggest that it may as well be.

Frontier also suggested the change, because after taking the decision the developers of said feature saw the result: PP dying to oblivion contrary to their plans and players just module shopping. They could not enact the change because of pvp haters by principle.
They did include the proposal in an investigation - however they also said that it was just an investigation and that it was neither a fait accompli nor guaranteed to happen.

We await the outcome of the investigation - although Will did state that some of the proposals in the first Flash Topic are under consideration.

I am looking at a game with 60,000 stations. The question is how many times dose it take you to see another player

You know Lex Fernetti if it was the Microsoft or Sony decision To make Power Play Open Only I would blame them for a bad idea. But they have not posted on this forum for Support for Power Play Open Only. It the PvP group that been asking for it. The bad thing is there 60,000 stations. How likely is someone to see a PvPer. Would they see them once week a few weeks a month or a year. So how critical is Power play Open only is really?

I only play solo. Until I can pay to play or buy a new computer. I am forced to be in solo mode. I don't want my game to change because a PvPers hope to see another player.

You are forced to solo because you made the bad choice of buying into ms and sony without truly accepting their policy prior to buying your console. Go unleash your rage there in their forums, I can't do anything for you.
What about those who bought a game where PvP is entirely optional and features are not restricted to a single game mode who then demand that existing content is PvP-gated to suit their play-style?

Seriouly there are lots of console games that only offer the majority of gameplay online. I wouldn't be surprised at all if FDev decide to carry out this POOP, or OOPP, whatever.

But we all know FDev are slow learners.

I made the choice to buy Xbox because I lack the funds to buy a computer. I accepted their policy of no Open, CQC or Wing. That was my choice. But you are trying to make a bad choice to force Power Play in open only and To Ruin many players who are in the same boat as I am. If I had a silver spoon like you do. Yes I would agree with you. But I live paycheck to paycheck. You are the one asking for a feature that could hurt my game play. SONY or MICROSOFT are not asking for those features it you and your group that want to force everyone into open.

If they do, it will certainly kill PP and will probably kill ED. Hey maybe they would want this... maybe it would free up resources for Planet whatever they make next... Or maybe Elite V (solo only)... who knows?

This presumes you know how many people play Powerplay, how many are on PC / PS4 / XB and the corresponding attitudes, subs etc.
Regardless of how many people play Powerplay, all players would become aware that Frontier would have made a fundamental change to the game by PvP-gating an existing pan-modal game feature three years after its implementation - in a game that has not required players to engage in PvP to engage in any normal in-game content until that time.

Again, do you know the numbers supporting that attitude? Games do change, ED has changed since it started. Things have been axed that were promised from the start.

I am so boned!

About teamwork, sorry, i can't rely on that. I get to play irregularly and sometimes have to quit at random times. Who wants to fly with someone who has to log on and off randomly?

I'm lucky i get to wing up with someone once a month for an hour.

Maybe this is just another case of where if PP goes open only its just a case of sucks to be me for not being able to commit to the game like others.

I really dont see what you describe as a problem, let alone a bar to entry.

Power playergroups are large, & well spread across timezones and formats. People dont need to wingup with someone, they can wingup with anyone. Ive never known it take more than 45mins to get someone going again who's run dry, for example, & its usually far quicker. Its really satisfying to help people out, its all part of the teamplay that keeps people engaged with powerplay despite its dire shortcomings.

So nothings wrong so nothing needs to be changed right? Wrong. we're better organised than ever before, but while the members are still watching on, helping & advising, the regular participants in the core gameplay are dwindling all the time. Everyone's 'waiting for godot', and the longer the wait, the more is lost.

Most of the fixes need to happen for the benefit of the future features of the game. they are core elements, numbers tweaks and involve less artwork and design changes than for a single shipkit. The powerplay communities offer great experience and help to new & developing players, for mutual benefit and without bias in my experience. Its a very different world from the salty malice players encounter on the forums.

Getting the mechanics tweaks, positioning powerplay as an open teamplay feature, removing the powerplay modules from the pledge requirements. (Why are these not chain-mission unlocks, that inform you about the power in question, and require you to do various activities to help the power in order to unlock them?? Thats so much better than 'get these merits any way you can after being pledged for 3 weeks doing nothing useful') all these things aid comprehension so people have a better idea what theyre getting into from the outset.
These changes fit neatly into the limited push to help new players get into the various options in the game, and really should be part of the agenda for this year's patches imo.

A feature many, if not most, use for only module shopping. If it is designed as a PVP feature, let it have its PVP.

Wait, you are saying FD decided not to make PP open only because of a teeny tiny minority of players who don't want open only?

Ok guys, you heard it here first! We won! Outnumbered, outgunned, but we survived and carried the day! Flawless victory!

I guess we can all pack up, go home to our loved ones, and kiss the kids goodnight.
