I think the throttle isn't working because E: D currently ignores any game controller without an X/Y axis such as a micro-joystick.

Works very well with the game, the Hat Switch is very well positioned for horizontal and vertical thrusting and the analogue trigger on the throttle control is great for navigating targets too.

The joystick itself is pretty solid and its not over priced either.
