That site is kosher. All the Linux distros use the USB ID database maintained there. Your browser doesn't like it because its SSL cert is signed by cacert.org, a Free certificate authority: http://wiki.cacert.org/FAQ/AboutUs . You could decide you trust cacert.org and add their root cert to your browser, but make your own mind up. Whether or not you trust their cert, a lot of software you use is already using that database.

I have old-but-good gameport devices (the CH Virtual Pilot Pro with CH Rudder pedals) hooked up via a Manhattan USB gameport adapter (labelled "item# 168199"). I believe it is also sold under the brand Rockfire with the name USB-Nest RM-203.

The Manhattan USB Gameport adapter has 4 modes with different USB Product IDs:

Mode 1 ("2-axis, 4-button joystick w/ view finder, rudder") / Thrustmaster FCS:
Vendor-ID: 0x0583
Product-ID: 0x2030

Mode 2 ("4-axis, 4-button joystick w/ view finder") / CH Flightstick Pro:
Vendor-ID: 0x0583
Product-ID: 0x2031

Mode 3 ("4-axis, 4-button joystick"):
Vendor-ID: 0x0583
Product-ID: 0x2032

Mode 4 ("2-axis, 8-button gamepad"):

I also have an old gamepad for the original Xbox by Team 5. I use the XBCD driver to use it with Windows 7/64bit. It shows up in dxdiag as
"XBCD PowerWave 360 Shape"
