Please purchase/Redeem Elite Dangerous to continue.

I just bought this game + DLC through steam, it wants me to somehow redeem a key for the game even though I didn't get one, what now?

You should have gotten a key, check your email. Once you find it you have to activate it on the frontier website

In which e-mail should I have received it? The one from steam support doesn't contain it
Its probably in your library, in the elite dangerous tab. I wouldnt know where to find it though because the new update ruined the library page

You should also be able to find it in your purchase history somewhere

It's not there. I purchased the full "commander deluxe edition"

Just fiddle with it - since April all Steam-bought versions have to log in to the launcher via the "Steam Log In"....

I don't see a Steam Log In option?

The procedure is given in the first link I gave: "Run the Elite Dangerous base game (not Horizons) in Steam to load the launcher, select the Options tab then Log Out Machine.... " (my emphasis).

You might also have to do the "Link Frontier account to your Steam account" procedure too - that is what messed up my attempt to validate a recent ancillary copy bought in a Steam sale. (Took me an age to work out what to do and I have been playing this game over 4.5 years!)

I'm having a problem myself that I cant seem to find the fix for. when I launch Elite Dangerous(not Horizons), it gives me: login, create account, and play demo. i have created an account on Frontier. But my launcher doesn't give me the option to link accounts. when I created my account on Frontier it showed my steam account at the top, I don't know if that means the accounts are linked. I tried the #6 post but I also don't get the steam login. Please Help.

Yea, I'm having the same issue, and the option menu doesn't have the option to exit the client either, so the walkthrough to fix it, is undoable.

I have seen a few recent posts about this and if the links in post #6 are not helping then I suggest raising a support ticket at https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/ - that was on "up to 24 hours" and today shows "up to 48 hours" so perhaps because of the Steam offerings at the moment. They are really helpful so fingers crossed.

One other thing, the screenshot linked in post #15 shows a different issue - it is the windows text size issue.

From https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...igh-dpi-displays-yourself.551208/post-8604000:

"Fixed it for me, by locating "EDLaunch.exe" > open Context Menu (with right mouse button) > "Properties" pops up > switch to "Compatibility" tab > press "Change high DPI settings" button in the new pop-up > tick (enable) "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and change "Scaling performed by:" from "Application" to System". Then close both popups with ok."

That might help. Good lick.

April of 2019 to be specific.

Thanks anyway, I don't know exactly what I did, but during a bunch of tinkering(even though it didn't seem like I did anything new). I got it to work. No the screen size was right, the client just wasn't displaying the correct startup commands, and even the option menu wasn't displaying all the commands, that it was suppose to.
