This option makes me very nervous, at the very least make it password verified before actually clearing. I wont even let someone try out Elite on my PC because this option is there.

Not a bad idea, certainly would stop accidental deletes.

Agree with this. Needs to be moved from the main menu. Perhaps put it in the launcher options.

I believe the WoW character deletion was password protected, It makes sense to add that kind of precaution.

No it is not but you have to type delete to confrem
