Please remove the now-defunct CTRL+F hardcoded binding.

I've always used the 'F' key as roll right in space flight games and 'CTRL' as thrust down. Used in conjunction, these keys do nothing because they're hardcoded to a vestigial function. This is honestly game-breaking for me because I'd have to unlearn my muscle memory from every other space flight sim and relearn a new basic flight control scheme for ED. Others have complained about this. Please, please fix this.

But how is it a vestigial function? It's a basic feature of their engine. That said, I agree that the engine functions should be bindable or at least configurable via a .cfg.

I could say the same about P being hardcoded to Pause. That one caught me out when I was figuring out where to put all my ody binds.

So you don't like seeing your frame rate? I've found it very good to see why Odyssey looks like it's performing badly :)

I am curious, what are you using as roll left?

and yes, having hardcoded behind the scenes keybinds is bad...

'Q' is my roll left. I use an FPS style of keybind setup with WASD as directional thrust, Q/F as roll, and CTRL and SPACE as up/down thrust.

But how is it a vestigial function?
I wasn't aware it even worked anymore, but it's redundant in the Steam version since Steam has its own FPS overlay.

Same goes for me and CTRL-B since B is my shield bank key and I can't quickly toggle the bandwidth display without banking unless I go to the menu first.

That's the one that comes up for me.

Having P, Ctrl-B and Ctrl-F able to be reassigned (rather than hardcoded as the OP says) but still defaulting to their current assignment would be a good QoL change.

Why not Q/E ?
I started gaming with old school first person shooters and got used to the 'E' button for interact/use. Then I started swapping 'E' for 'F' in all other shooters and space flight sims for lean/roll and have been using that control scheme all my life.

I know most keybinds are adjusted in the menu, but is it possible to manually override them by modifying the .binds file in a text editor? I haven't tried, but if there was anywhere that it could be done I would imagine that might be it.

What I see here:

OP raises a valid request and everyone then questioning how they play the game. Classic Elite forums :D

There should be no hard-coded keybindings whatsoever.
