Alas, in the long term you can't simply ignore the factor "population size", because that's what survivability will depend on.
Fortunately, I can completely ignore the "population size" factor - one packet at a time. Survivability purely depends on how long FD are willing to support it and how profitable it remains for them, and even perhaps supporting the game long after it has ceased generating revenue. We had this sort of thing long ago, maybe up until Unreal 226 - and then suddenly there was this entire shift in the industry. Patches were no longer called patches, fixes were no longer fixes, instead we got DLC and Season Passes. And look at just what those threw up
