Please turn off Collision Detection on Scenery.... PLEASE!!

Fingers crossed to see a "Turn off collisions for this ride" checkbox in the bottom of every "ride settings window" in the future ! [yesnod][up]

This thread blew up, I really hope they add the option, especially for lug flumes and riverrapids, they should be able to go into the ground!

In the stream yesterday, there were a lot of items (incl animatronic) placed in the space / inner side of fences
of the bumper cars...

Oh wow, there is an animatronic inside teh boundary!

However, some rides already have a boundary you can place things in, just not all the way. Like the Genie, I am certain the genie has room inside its walls for colored lights and pretty much nothing else. :(

Can confirm, the bumper cars just has a really, really lenient boundary. You can stick a full size boulder in there and barely leave any room and it lets you place it.

I think it's less "hitbox reduction" and more "The bumper cars has a really, really wide path area thing around the ride itself".

Because the bumper cars has an overhang on top, the area around the ride that is still part of the ride base is larger. Because that's larger, the area around the actual hitbox for the ride itself is larger, while still being within the boundary, if that makes sense.

Yep it does, cheers for clarifying.

As AndyC said in another thread where we totally got off topic from my actual questions [mad] [haha], it looks like this is not going to be a thing any time soon. :(

Apparently the do a lot of collision checks for...things? And if collision doesn't work those don't work. I'm not really sure what he means by that, as far as I know collision only matters for coaster cars and people, and nothing else should really bother with it at all.

But I'm sure if we continue to post examples of places it would be useful in this thread every single day...in time... [tongue]

This is so frustrating, I'm getting a bit fed up with this game. There are soo many annoyances, from the stupid fixed keybinds for cameras, the awful pathing system that has been an issue through alpha and now this. The winter update just made it 100% worse because it's all white, you don't see the errors until later, then you have to delete or move everything.

This game needs a serious QOL patch and this needs sorting out so that you can "level" things NEXT to the ride, if it is visible, it should be editable.

Until then, it's becoming far to frustrating to play, maybe when some other QOL features get added...

I have not launched the game since two weeks, every time I try to create a coaster in one of my sets I spend hours destroying everything with the hope of being able to place the rails, ending by abandoning.

Frustration took over, then disappointment with the Frontier's apparent disinterest of this major problem (18 pages anyway).

If Frontier wants to bring a solution in the coming months, I do not mind waiting.

Otherwise, it must be said clearly and then close this thread rather than letting players hope in vain .

I would speculate that it has to do with their system of coaster ratings for "head choppers". It appears that the collision box is deeply rooted to how it rates that and its effect on the ride rating. If you got rid of the collision box on coasters, that suddenly throws the rating system for that specific effect out of wack or in the trash.

It's probably something they're definitely looking into but I bet it's a lot more complicated than we think.

Ride hitboxes: really bad?

i mean yes duh we alreayd know that, but jeez. I thought I could at least make a simple square around the carousel that kept it centered. This is the closest pieces can get on a half-width grid.

I love the qol management tab improvements that were included with the winter update. With that said, this is THE qol fix the game needs.

I am feeling more and more frustrated with all the hit box limitations occurring with rides and scenery. I feel like too often the game works against me when i am doing nothing more than trying to make things look like they do in real life.

As far as i am concerned the people using this "realism" argument against allowing collision detection to be turned off have it exactly backwards.

Is still don't understand why scenery collisions is even a thing when it's not with path.
Same.

I am extremely septic about the fact that is because a "technical limitation". I just do not believe at all in fact.
For me, it's just a design decision, thinking that users are "not very smart", and will say that there is a problem with rides if an user place something in the middle. (which can be true with some casual gamers by the way)

This is a recurring debate in every games development studios. Especially with studios developing "sandbox/creation/construction" games.
They think it's "bad" to have a tree for exemple in the middle of something, so they impose arbitrary limitations which restricts freedom of creation in order to preserve a standardized design.
I do not see why Frontier would be an exception after all.

Old debate [happy]

they could even let coaster-scenery collisions stay in the game but just remove the not-buildable-area ("Obstructed" I hate this message [cry][sulk]) so you can place scenery objects everywhere but when the objects are in the way of the coaster train the coaster will crash and you have to redisign.
That would put realism challenge and creativity together.
And maybe you but a checkbox for no hitbox in the building tab so you can give certain scenery/building objects no collision.

And yes please can you devs give us some reaction and not let us hope and complain the whole day.

I also haven`t touched PC since weeks in my park are now 4 unfinished coasters because of the collision thing and I have no motivation to build any further knowing that I will have the same frustration at the next coasters and rides.
And PC needs a "Pirate-Boats" transport ride or something like that but that's a different topic.... COLLISION FIRST[wink]

If they provided all the check boxes that were requested, I think by now they would have to have a check box to display all the other check boxes. [big grin]

lol [haha]

But to stay serious, it's a simulation game after all. It's all about building and ... clicking on checkboxes, fill fields and move sliders [big grin]
