Plotting a route, game grinds to a halt

Anyone else getting this? Plotting a route nearly completely freezes the game.

I see the percentages going up slowly even in the low ranges, so not just at 97 or 99%.

Exiting out of the map, the low frame rate is really obnoxious. Can't even manage to navigate back to galmap.

Yup, this is a known issue, particularly with longer jump ranges and closer to the galactic core where star densities are very high. Optimizations are on the wish list for a future update. One thing that works (on XBox anyway) is to interrupt the long-distance route plot by selecting a neighbour star less than your jump range -- use the left nav panel if necessary. This can be tedious with the low frame rate but works well enough. You'll quickly get a 1-hop route, you can take that jump and try again for a longer route.

Yeah this has been an issue for me as well for quite some time. Very annoying. I'd wish they gave us manual route plotting already -.-

I have been experiencing this the last couple of days. Anything about 250 LY takes at least 15 minutes to calculate.

Task Manager shows it's just Elite that's hogging up all the available thinking power. Game is really unplayable for me.

So much for getting back to prepare for 2.2

Plotting works fine, but strangely enough, moving around in the galaxy map is producing some serious frame rate drops over here the last couple of days. (I blame AMD, they have experience in ruining the Elite fun...)

Well, I am quite close to the core (North East of Jack). Still, none of the methods that used to work for me in the core works (I know about giving the plotter as few as possible options to calculate).

I think this has been fixed for 2.2.

Not having a solution for that, either - but I also get frame rate drops in the GalMap, especially noticeable when Iopen up the GalMap the first time immediately after starting up. Several minutes later, it looks ok again - well, apart from the known problems of plotting near the core. And in this case, I don't want to adjust my desired jump range, since I want to visit that BH in 170 ly distance...

It's not just you, Ziggy. I had the same trouble last night, took me two minutes to get a route plotted from Sirius to Baker. Come on, people, it's two jumps. Not that hard to figure out!

Doesn't help that I'm hunting for planetary nebulaeaeaeae. Which are usually around 200-800-much further lys apart.

So you search the map for colourful pixels .... find one in the neighbourhood. Plot a course. Write War and Peace. Travel to the poxy neb. Curse either Big Bad Lynx or Alex Igotthemall. Repeat.

Yesterday I managed to go to 1.
