Police in combat zones are too jumpy and aggressive towards players.

Here what I think it coming down to is. People want the Security help because it make it easier. But doing this. They risk getting fined.

If you are able to draw the target away from the crowd it harder because it one on one.

I also think that time to kill is a factor too. Try not to shoot from miles away and use effective combos to kill them before even cops get to them.

I try to attack targets the cops aren't working on at all, since I can kill other Cobras and anything smaller very easily, but sometimes it can't be helped. If you spend a while in a RES eventually a ton of ships spawn, and a good portion of those ships end up being law.

Have you tried drawing a target away from the crowd? It work for me. I don't have a problem and I don't get fined. Try it. Weapons like mulicannon can be more trouble then they are worth.

I try to use pulse lasers, which are pretty easy to keep control of, for shields, and single-shot cannons plus the lasers for hull. I don't use multi-canons because of both how the shots spray and the ammo costs.

Maybe thy're just mad because they had to work on Christmas :) I know exactly how they feel.

I think you should get a warning fine if you shoot a cop, get a full bounty if you kill a cop.

I agree, first time is a small fine with no aggression that lasts maybe 10-15 minutes. And if you engage them again in that time frame they will retaliate.

Maybe they could change "Assault" to be a fine instead of a bounty, and redefine assault as doing less then 25% shields/10% hull. Then have "Attempted Murder" be any higher amount of damage, and have that be when the bounty starts. Have the amount of damage needed scale with the toughness of the ship, so you don't get a free 10% hull damage on an Anaconda, etc.

But have you tried Drawing a wanted ship away from the crowd ALLCAPS?

Like I said I try to. I prefer to fight in RES zones, where usually there are ships all over, but I try to keep to the outer edges of the rock field so that targets I fire on try to dodge me into open space instead of into the crowd of other ships and rocks. Usually Cobras will turn and make a joust pass towards you when you assault them, so it's pretty easy to get them to go where you want initially.

I want to clarify that it's not like this is happening to me every single ship I attack. It more happens a couple times a day, but it still causes grief each time it happens.

All the tips to avoid accidental stray shots won't improve the immersion-breaking AI and their reactions, though. This ridiculously exaggerated response to friendly fire coming from the player has to be fixed from a realism standpoint, avoidable or not.

I think the AI needs to be able avoid flying through the line of fire of other ships, if this were fixed then the zero tolerance FF wouldnt be so much of a pain.

A week of bounty hunting at a nav point. I use the police to help me take down targets. Not once have i hit a cop. Not once have the cops turned unfriendly on me. Care and attention. Situational awareness. And check your fire.

I know the arguments "but the cops flew in front on me" and "its immersion breaking" - to be honest, for me this is perfectly immersive. You are the mercenary here, getting in the way of the cops. They should have no reason to give you any slack. Stay out of their way. If you want to help taking down a wanted person, you do so at your own risk. Mess with the cops, they will mess with you right back.

I have heard about cops going red without reason. I've not experienced that myself. Either there is a bug here (and it has been reported, so if it is, it will be fixed), or else players are just not realizing they are causing the NPC to go red for some reason.

I talk about this issue and few other issues. I really think its just that the AI is, frankly, not intelligent but just artificial. I detail a few occasions where system security will ignore EVERYONE and start to shoot me even if I do not have a bounty. Apparently Kill Warrant Scanning "clean" targets gets you that specific aggro.

I detail all of that and MANY more issues with the game. Love the game but theres so many things that bug me right now.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=86621 <--- heres that post. We should all put issues ourselves into this and band together in hopes that it changes! I love the game but I want changes!
