Wait 100 minute for transfer 1000 ly. It a 10 ly in a minute. My FDL is faster :( Very bad time limits.

I thought Sandro mentioned that the 100 minutes would be roughly the time to transport your ship from one end of the inhabited bubble to the other end, roughly 300 ly, not 1000 ly.

Yes, but now that character you're changing to.. doesn't have to walk to the point. And that's a problem for me.

An instant-transfer mechanic takes away decision making, it takes away consideration, it takes away planning, it takes lore and completely throws it out the window.. if we can instant-transfer our ships all over the place, why can't we just instant-transfer our ship from a star to a station? Why do we even have ships? Can't I just instant-transfer myself across the stars? Yes, I'm getting ridiculous but it's to make a point, lol.

I strongly feel that instant-transfer takes more from ED than it contributes.

Why even play a video game, when you can accurately simulate real life perfectly by not playing a video game?

What if instead of trying to make this video game conform to the arbitrary limitations and restrictions you desire in your life, you instead roleplay a real human being playing a video game in which you can transfer a ship from station to station instantly? That would be very immersive.

Sometimes yes, but not always. Say I wing up to do canyon racing. My friend has his racing ship, mine is 150lyr away and I got a T6. Am I supposed to play the day after ? Wait 1h while my friend do canyon racing alone ?
Do racing with a T6 (like this is going to be a race lol). Most likely outcome : don't bother and go play something else that can be setup for co-op play in less than one hour. Like overwatch, WoT, or pretty much any other
multiplayer game.

So, definitly instant transfer for me.

Option 3... Plan ahead :)

Why won't you make both options viable with a price tag on the transfer depending on distance?

Longer distance = more expensive to instantly transfer.

Let players pick how long they want to wait and let them pay accordingly.

I'm not too much in favor of this. That sounds a bit like big businesses buying the elections...

the only people for whom this would be a bad thing are the crews of gankers who prey on unarmed pilots. Not so much fun if unarmed pilot can respawn in a fighting Corvette and fight you back.

The slight delay (and it does sound like a slight delay) suits me fine. Between that and some financial outlay it's enough to stop people just doing it on a constant basis, but still convenient that if a combat-based CG is announced at the other end of the bubble I can get there quickly in my Asp then dial up my Vulture so it's ready for me next time I log in, rather than 'waste' an evening's play hauling it there at 12ly a jump.

Hello Commanders!

For clarity: the reason we are looking at ballpark figures of 5 mins to 100 minutes is two reasons:

* There's an amount of basic logistics in getting a ship booked and loaded onto a bulk freighter, hence a minimum 5 minute delay.
* We will use a X seconds per light year formula to simulate the speed of a bulk freighter.

I think there absolutely should be a delay for the realism, so I'm glad this is being discussed again. However, I also think we should be able to arrange these transfers from our ship's UI - communicate with a target station from anywhere and "order ahead" a ship to meet us. There's probably some well understood lore reason we cant do this but I think it would be awesome.

This is a really bad idea. Unless you are going to have the vast majority of account holders voting you are simply bowing to pressure from a tiny minority of the whole community. Combine the forum members and other sites such as Reddit and facebook, and allowing for the inevitable crossover of those memberships, you are relying on less than 1 percent of all players to vote on a mechanic that is going to affect 100% of the playerbase.

Seriously this not an exercise in listening to the wants of the community, but caving to the cries of a tiny minority of your playerbase.

Thank you for this! That you listen to and interact with the community means so much more than you realize. :)

Voted timed, and will add my voice to the chorus of ship jump range should be considered in the timer.

I really think this will open up more gameplay opportunities, and more exploration. "Oh, combat zone! I want in on that, but I'm in my Type 9... guess I'll take a local trade mission while I wait for my ship to arrive...oh wow, I never noticed _____"

Voted Instant. My initial thought was to vote delay as it is just more 'realistic' (for a futurist space game) but after thinking about it and the lack of time i get to play already, this would definitely allow me to fit more into my already limited playtime.

What if they announce possibility to vote it via newsletter?

oh my god, the vocal minority actually sparked a developer poll.

this is the problem. This forum is very loud with "no instant-transfer people". Whereas the other like 85% of players wouldn't mind or care. You will always get that on games forums, it's something the devs have to take account of (which is why this is an official poll linked to your Frontier account. So they can see what percentage OF THE ENTIRE USERBASE wants delay, not just percentage of regular forum users.)

I voted Instant, I see no reason for it to have a delay, just hinders gameplay, and its waste of time to wait for ship transfer.
Its a game, not a 2nd job, i'm here to have fun, not to play a facebook game and wait for the timers to run out, this is not a mobile game.

Dear Mr. Sammarco, please open the same poll for pilot rescue capsule travel time after ship destruction. It's totally inconsistent for such a small capsule to beam instantly across the whole galaxy now, is it?
