Sorry you call ED hard game? ED is closer to arcade than many other games I played!.

I play DCS world, with modules that are closer to reality like Mirage 2000C, A-10, MIG-21, Ka-50 and others, make a try to these and you WILL SEE WHAT IS HARD GAME! And even the difficult of flight one of this modules using ILS, BVR combat, have to learn Basic/Advanced/Combat Flight Maneuvers/Dogfights in gravity with rough terrain if you want to survive in the MP arena!

Good for you. Do you feel like you need an award or something?

Maybe Rogue System would be better suited for you if you Like DCS so much.

Logically, we shouldn't be in the spaceship. Logically, we could fly it from a space station light years away. Logically, cargo could be given coordinates and fly itself to its destination. Autopilot highlights the uselessness of everything about the pilot. Yet we still have a game. Might as well sleep while the game plays itself and wake up with a bunch of extra money. If you have an NPC flying the ship for you, who's to say you can't give them simple instructions. Go to work, let the game play itself. Go to school, let the game play itself. An AI is far superior to humans with reflexes, response time, control and awareness so why not have them fight for you. It's only realistic. Log in once per day to check your status. "Am I elite yet?"
The game is quite capable of playing itself so imagine what it could do 1000 years from now.
Just turn it off if you don't want to use it? Water down the standards for everybody so that those who have achieved have their achievements devalued while Joe Sixpack watches the football game as his ship makes a 1000ly journey. He gets into the hall of fame too? BFingS. Watered down standards.

Another extremist, twisting everything, the NPC will not sell the cargo for you, will not fight for you, will not mine, or nothing but travel from point A to B for you, thats all!

I voted yes, though I would not necessarily use it.

But it should:
- Fly at 75% throttle all the time in supercruise.
- Have no ability to evade or fight back.
- Display a LOUD warning when the ship is under attack, has been interdicted or dropped from supercruise for any reason.
- Interrupt after an interdiction and would not re-engage automatically.
- No ability to fuel scoop.
- No ability to dock. Once you drop at your destination from supercruise, you are the pilot.
- Accidents (bugs) may happen where the ship would fly too close to a star/body, but again, a LOUD warning should be displayed.

The autopilot should be used only under supervision. Everybody at some point would Alt+Tab while doing tedious/boring tasks...so the autopilot would make the thing actually way more pleasant.

=71st=RuSh Again you miss the point of the post, yet think you are able to criticise that person.

It's probably to 4th or 5th time I vote against an autopilot. Clear victory of the no autopilot guys. As usual.

Can't wait for the next one :D

As a side note, I see that the results are almost the same than the instant transfer ships polls. Not saying that this means anything. Just noticing.

Still, playing a space sim when you don't want to fly ... Seriously ?

How can you do one, and not call the other a logical addition? My point was mainly about avoiding the same difficulties as others but recieving the same credit for it. I think that's unfair.
Try a better argument than "extremis fallacy".

Agree 100%

truth be told here, come 2.3 you will be able to have some kind of autopilot - another CMDR flying your ship for you .. if NPC crew are introduced then we will certainly see autopilot added (I think this could be one of the reasons that FD don't seem keen on NPC crew)

It always makes me laugh when a poll is put up, goes against the idea and then anyone who voted against the idea is unequivocally wrong .. why have the poll in the first place? :)

It always amazes me how rational argument goes out the window on the first page! I suppose it is a game and I should know better by now lol, sooo glad I'm not a games developer in the age of internet forums.

In the original Elite, there was none of this staring at a dot nonsense.

Its essence was gameplay - not Braben's obsession with being an amateur astrophysicist and forcing players to look at his damn boring endless galaxy for hours on end.

They don't force airline pilots or ship's pilots to navigate through nothing unnecessarily for hours - but an alleged 'game' does.

This is why ED sucks.
