I flew to a station that was over 1,000,000 Ls away from the nav beacon. It took about 30 minutes to get there. While I can see that this could be viewed as dull it does certainly help give a sense of scale to the Galaxy.

I'm happy with how things are. If people find it a bit dull then maybe they should look for a 'quicker' trade route?

When I read the title of this post I honestly thought the OP was going to suggest that supercruse would be made longer and more realistic or dynamic somehow. At least remove the auto slowdown mechanics and allow people to make mistakes once in a while. Then I realized that that was not even a poll option, just easier/faster or stay the same.

Probably should have known it would just be another thinly veiled whine about game mechanics.

I don't really care about the speed. what I get tried of is the inching up on you target to get out of hyper drive. tedious.

then when you jump out on a USS that's nothing they punish you by it taking for ever to recharge your drive,

oh and the auto slow down is a tedious boring obnoxious joke. let me go fullspeed until I am like 10ls away and jump out at the target

Classic Elite's Torus Jump was somewhat like that - one speed (ludicrous), no acceleration / deceleration phases, mass lock range was the scanner range - ie. interdictors and other signal sources were usually (tho not always) at the periphery of your scanner range.

In disputed systems and anarchies it was mad, bad and dangerous - jump, fight, jump, fight, only pausing to recharge shields and scoop slaves & alloys. You never HAD to play at that pace, but the fact that you could was a large part of what made it Elite - and also made promotions that much quicker to progress towards...

playing like that, you could get two or three Right on Commander!'s in a week... in ED, as is, the same tally would take a month..

may not that wild but creeping up on a USS is like watching paint dry

It has already been speeded up since Beta. Feels about right now.
The problem why its boring is because the interdictions have been cut down. Too easy to trade and get about now with out getting attacked. A type 6 can easily make 100k profit in 5 mins with no problems. This is why it doesn't feel like the previous Elite games with constant edge of seat difficulty.
If there was some stratagy to supercruising to cut down interdictions such as observing the radar for potential attackers and performing some skillful piloting to avoid interdiction lock it would help spice it up.
Currently its enter system, cruise toward station, loose one interdiction (very easy to do), dock, repeat.

Watching the inky blackness of space for up to 45 minutes sure is exciting! Especially how nothing happens, and stars don't actually get closer or anything because it's all instanced, so at most you can do USSs, which just make the journey take longer.

And unlike a trucking sim, you don't even have to stay on the road or anything. You can just walk away. Exciting stuff.

The way it is currently kind of feels like this:

I can drive 25 miles home from work and it takes me roughly 30 mins.
But to get from the end of my driveway to the garage takes 45 mins, as long as I don't overshoot the garage.

What the....?
If you are going too fast and can see that you are, pull back on that stick and keep it there. Ten seconds or so later you will have done a full 360 loop and slowed down enough to make a good approach with your destination in front of you. I've no idea how anyone could mess this up.

Supercruise kills this game for me. I loved the slow travel in the X series for Gaawd sakes. But this this is horribly slow. Not the SC itself, but the slowing down is tedious as hell... easily fixable by reducing the speed drop timer.

yep at .11 ly it started slowing down. I love this game its a brannew thing for me. but I wont do this again. I dint even know to think I would be siting here watching dry this long. 400k ly is my max now on.

Acceleration feels ok, but the top speed of 1775ish c could do with an increase when you have systems like Alpha Centauri etc to deal with.
