Post 1.13 Advanced Move Toggle

I'm not sure if this has already been created as a thread or not but I couldn't find it anywhere so I figured I'd make a thread.

As the title would suggest, an option to toggle the new advanced move option to how it worked before 1.13 would be greatly appreciated. Whilst the new advanced move tool has its benefits and uses, it is proving rather cumbersome and obtrusive when building. I've lost count of the number of times I've misclicked and had to place the piece or blueprint again. Additionally, the multi-plane/multi-axis points can block the line of sight for moving things, making building and moving pieces that bit more difficult.

I'm not the only person to experience this and @DeLadysigner does a far better job of explaining it than I've just done. Check out her tweet thread: Source: https://twitter.com/DeLadysigner/status/1643902544706412545

I know Frontier put a lot of work into the process but the option to have pre-1.13 and post-1.13 advanced move options would be greatly appreciated!

If they can do it easily, great, but otherwise people need to just adapt. It's not that difficult to get used to. I don't really care that a YouTuber is having difficulty with this issue any more than a 'regular' PZ player, and that Twitter survey only has 150 participants, which a bad use-case imo.

I see this as a non-issue compared to some of the other bugs and things we have been dealing with for years.

I find it a struggle and preferred it the way it was. It’s not a non-issue for me.

I haven't built that much in game and am still super slow when I do, so it doesn't bother me. I can see though how it could be really annoying for those who got into a "rhythm" for over 3 years. I think a toggle would be a nice compromise.

Where would that toggle be? I think the interface is already full of tick boxes and too complex sometimes, so I'm reluctant about adding more noise, it's the big flaw I see with the proposal.
I'm not having many issues with the new gizmo, in any case.

Personally, I'd put the toggle in the settings menu so people can choose to have either the pre-1.13 or post-1.13 advanced move system, that way it doesn't add anything else to the in-game interface when placing and moving pieces. Frontier may take a different approach if this ever becomes a thing, I have no idea. I can't imagine someone wanting to flick between the 2 as we can currently between standard and advanced move though so there would be no need to clutter up the screen further.

I guess I'm confused on why people are struggling, as it really isn't that different from the old system, functionally speaking. Personally, however, the new system has made building about 100x more efficient and enjoyable for me, so I admit I am heavily biased in favor of it.

No one is suggesting getting rid of the new system, just having the ability to use the old one as an option.

I've misclicked a few times but it's not an urgent game-breaking issue. You just have to use CTRL+Z a bit more, and rotate the camera around if you're in a tricky spot. That said, a toggle to switch it on and off doesn't take anything away so while I'm not overtly in favour of it I don't see any reason not to have it.

I'm not against it either, just saying it's not a huge priority compared to other, older issues (to me)

It's just all way too close together which seems to be another issue Frontier just can't get rid of. PC has the exact same troubles in its coaster builder where all the buttons are so close together, sometimes even overlapping, same as the barrier menu actually. Is it really so hard to pull these things further appart and maybe slightly beside the object instead of right on top of it?

In addition to that: I do find it rather useful while building but it's also bugged. I can't count the amount of times where I clicked the highlighted arrows to move it along the x and z axis only to have it move up the y one and sideways instead, gets pretty annoying after a while.

Same, I really enjoy the new 3D gizmo. But also I am not an advanced builder and build simply and slowly.

I'm all in favor of what's mentioned above and even an expansion on it, akin to Prehistoric Kingdom's Rotational Axis tool,

Taken from SimplySavannah's video, but I love how you're able to grab the ORB and rotate it. It'd be awesome for more organic things and rockwork.

The big problem I see here is that this is straight up bugged sometimes. I will highlight one arrow, or one multi-axis and I then click the mouse (without moving it at all) and then it will select a different multi-axis than the one I had highlighted. I've made so many mistakes this way.

Sure it's useful at times, but it's also buggy and also the added axes does legitimately obstruct more detail when adjusting things. This is why a toggle (like changing from relative to world axis) would be nice.

This exactly. It is straight up bugged. I've encountered the same issue hundreds (thousands?) of times.

A few adjustments and a toggle option are indeed needed. The new version simply needs to scale better when zooming in on a build. The tendency to move an object on the dual axis when looking down one axis is unacceptable. But the concept is very useful for building. Perhaps just hold a key to toggle it on, shift+x perhaps, would be enough aside from the scaling the handles issue.
