Post-gamescom catch up: THURSDAY

We can hardly believe it but our first day at gamescom is already over! We have been livestreaming all day and it was great to see some of you at the venue and a lot of you tuning in via our official channels.

However, we know that not all of you were able to enjoy the show live, so we put together a little overview of the main Planet Coaster news and discussions of today:

• Create, manage, share: welcome to Alpha 3 of Planet Coaster! Today we focused mostly on the CREATE aspect of our new build.

All-New Coaster Editor

With the improved Coaster Editor you can completely design and customise your coasters; change the colour of your coaster and carts, add different track pieces or fast-track booths, and create the most thrilling ride ever. Rides and coasters have different options for entrances as well; themed, animated, or simple and plain – you choose what suits your park best!

Coasters also have a smoothing option, a handy tool which lets you select either separate segments or the entire track and smooth it all out in one click. You can also add block breaks and a cable lift, and everything can be selected and scaled to your preferred length or size. Both coasters and paths also have togglable supports in place.

Create Your Own Path

Building paths now allows for more creative freedom: you can now align your paths to your building grids, and put bins and benches there for your guests to make use of. All building pieces and scenery can be individually selected and painted in whatever colour you like; whatever suits your park’s theme or colour scheme.

Glistening Water or Dry Desert

Where’s the water? There’s the water! We know a lot of you have been waiting for this terrain update, and we are happy to tell you we now have water in-game. All you have to do is dig out an area and then fill it up with either calm, rough, or swamp water.

Another hot new feature is the desert setting; instead of a lush, tropical feel, you can now create a sun-kissed park filled with golden-brown rock formations, colourful cacti, and sizzling attractions. Make sure to provide enough shade and drink stands for your guests to survive the scorching heat!

A Magical New Theme

With the arrival of the new Fairytale theme, Princess Amelie can finally get the park of her dreams! The wicked witch with her magic cauldron, lazy dragons entertaining your guests, and fierce knights protecting your pathways. You’ll have lots of new building and scenery options, and we can’t wait to see what kind of fantastical parks you’ll create.

During the afternoon livestreams we had YouTubers Flabaliki and Silvarret demo on stage; they had a great time discovering these new features and were very excited to explore Alpha 3.

To see all these fantastic new features in action, you can rewatch the entire stream via our official YouTube channel here. If you’d like to play Alpha 3 now and provide us with valuable feedback during Planet Coaster’s development, please visit our store and pre-order the game before August 25 to gain access to the build up until Beta and release; you can also check our forum for more information here.

Thanks for the support everyone; we’re gearing up for day two with even more exciting news and reveals. Be sure to watch again today (Friday) at 12:00 CEST for the next developer stream, and both 13:00 CEST and 16:00 CEST for the community streams.

Have a good night,

The Planet Coaster Team.

Yeah we were all screaming out "Build a wooden coaster" in the chat but they never went near those buttons. I was kind of hoping someone would. Just because he said they won't be in alpha 3 doesn't mean they are not in the gamescom build though... It would be good if a community streamer would just click that button just so we can have a small peak... [big grin]

I honestly hope that Alpha 3 doesn't go include any more new rides and coasters than what is shown in the streams.

I'd much prefer to be blown away at release :)

It had already been answered. The steam keys will be sent by email sometime before the 23rd, but not all at once.

I love how smooth the coasters look. And they're so realistic. Great selection so far too. MY main concern is have the button been fixed? They where to fidgety in alpha 2.

Create Your Own Path
I love that the bench and bins are actually on the path. that said the rest of the annoced feature didn't really impress me as much as alpha 2. Plaza is still what seem mainly wrong with path.

Glistening Water or Dry Desert
This is worrisome. The waterfall where confusing. Is there no plan for it yet? The colour of water are a little bit to pronounced and dark. But most importantly, as many mentioned. Why would restrict the texture used? When i do enjoy that changing the location mean something, All texture should still be available.

A Magical New Theme
Amazing theme! I love that each theme actually seems to be 2 themes. Pirate is Caribbean and fortress/castle, Fairytale is cottage village and magic castle. If spooky and scifi are also like this, It make the low amount of theme announced (5) much more reasonable. And this is something the dev should be clearer about as it make the community worry for nothing.

I saw a screenshot of "spooky trees" i was hoping for more spooky scenery so we can see some great creations for halloween [up] hopefully we wont have to wait for the beta to see more spooky stuff, and then after the beta we can have snow for december!!!
