Post Settlement Combat - Beam me back to the station, Scotty

I noticed since Update 13 (maybe it happened before?) when I've done some settlement combat and I quit the game after the fight (still in the settlement) instead of finding myself still at the settlement when I next load the game, I have been magically whisked back to the station that issued the mission. Anybody else seeing this?

I used to play a couple of firefights, quit and then come back later for a couple more.

......which was nice. :-/

Thanks St0rmFury.

Hmmm..... well, that's sub-ideal.

Work rounds........?

Maybe if you walk a distance from the Settlement..... or summon your ship and get inside it......

FD please mark me as vexxed. I'm not trying to run an exploit or do anything dodgy, I just want to be able to have a break in settlement combat missions without having to re-enlist and then travel back there. Is that unreasonable?

You can get in your srv/ship and relog safely, but if u die even once your parked srv will explode for some reason. I've heard you can run 500m away from the settlement & relog but I haven't tried that yet.

I'm not sure I'm against this change in all honesty. I am against all relogging, and never relogged once in my 6000hrs.

They should however have put this down black on white in the patch notes with an explanation of why they did it. FD usually fails on this every single time, communication

If this is a "relogging fix" it's not very well thought out - they only just conceded to moving your ship with you when you go to jail on foot because loads of players were complaining about it, and now they're doing the exact same thing (transporting a player to a different location without their ship) just because you close the game while in a particular area. No warnings when you go to close the game, no explanation when you log back on and seemingly no limit on the max distance that you can be transported - RIP anyone who flies a long distance and goes straight to a ground combat zone without docking anywhere first.

There's bug ticket if people want to upvote:

'Update13: after finish GroundCombatzone and relog:respawn on last station I docked not at settlement'

Otherwise you can walk 200m away from the settlement before relog, you'll respawn in the CZ.
Or kill yourself in the settlement to respawn in orbit (if you came with your ship).

Relogging is a necessary evil in many situations to make the game less tedious and grindy. removing this option from ground CZs just sapped out most of the fun and also greatly increased the grind required for anyone working on Merc Elite.

I really think they should reconsider this decision. A better solution would be to have the option to go back for another round at the dropship at the end or something.

Easiest thing to fix for the developers if they wanted to. Up the max points on the ground CZ's so they last longer. No need to relog. Press ESC when you are bored, respawn in a station or add some system of return to base. Everybody is happy. My suggestion here.

Recall ship supercruise out with zero throttle and drop ASAP. You will need to travel 15-18km and land. Do not work with APEX shuttles and Frontline dropships. (as we do for settlements / POIs reset for farming materials)

It is not as fast as with menu log but far faster than enjoying cockpit simulator.

That's a poor fix. For BGS purposes you have to finish the scenario, plus not all the fighting is done on the ground - by extending the length of combat you are increasing the ammo requirements for ships choosing to fight overhead.

If you've already re-embarked on your ship you may as well just relog then fly the 500m back to the CZ.

Actually there's another way to restart a new CZ pretty quick. If you came with your own ship, you can kill yourself in the settlement (explosive barrel, grenades, fire, mining laser), then click "Retreat" (if CZ is still going on) or "Redeploy" (after CZ finished). You'll respawn in orbit and can supercruise back for a fresh CZ.

Wait... there is a retreat option? I always played through to the end, even when the AI were stuck without paths which took forever killing them all myself.

Yep, if you die they'll make you wait in the Frontline dropship and you'll see a "Retreat" button. If you came with your own ship then you'll respawn in it (otherwise at the station).

If FDev can forced to teleport CMDR to station, FDev must allow to CMDR to teleport to GCZ. Please, don't break consistency only when FDev needs. We can beam down from ship, we can beam up to station. Is there reason we can't beam down to GCZ?
