Power Play 2.0 Merits Progression Feedback

I went to take a look, shot a few taipans each 74 merits. Then I came back later and now its 47.
I keep and keep doing it, cant Stop! Still pays 72 each.
Which powers are you in and what are their Undermining ethos?

47 merits for a non-combat power, plus a 50% ethos bonus, would be about 72.
(Throw in another slight adjustment for different beyond frontline penalties for the rest?)

Kaine I am pledged to, and I am "attacking" one of mahon stronghold carriers, since these happen to be very nearest ones, where I did happen to be. So decided to play around a bit with that power to see what I can do, and how I can chesse it, and seems I got literally jackpot, with trying to see how I can chesse from SLF's, after I tried rares, mining, regular res farming and normal CZ around my power territory, and since kaine does not have at moment any active power CZ's this week, I decided to see what I can do in other powers, with focus on combat, and that how I found about SLF's.

To be clear, I have yet try another territory and diffrent power stronghold carrier, since the one I hang around it, proved good enough, and after mastering it a bit, with right missile bulid, my merits per hour earned had skyrocketed, to the point where I found litte to zero reason to do/try anything else, after kinda clueless looking for good method, before figured this one out.

I am constantly earning 30k/hour by now, where I started from shy 7-10k/hour, when used diffrent bulids and had not yet clear idea how to effectively farm them at time.

I cant be sure, wich of listed "activites" counts as given each kill is 72. Ethos for undermining literally sounds pacifist as it can be by that description, yet they sure rewards me for causing mayhem at mahon carriers.

My guess it is either "kill power ships around carrier" or "destory carrier objects", but Kaine is nowhere "combat" power, but happen to offer a weapon I am very intrested with, the condord cannons, at lowest level - thats one and only reasoning for myself to bother with PP.

I think when at very begining, when did first try any combat next to carriers (and that was when I realized about SLF's that they hang around and that these might will work), I was in diffrent territory, and it was certainly not alliance but it did also had taipans, but it gived litte less than 72, it gived 64 or 62, but cant really remember right now, though it was like about 2 days ago. Mertis gained might be varied depending on pledged power, but I suspect that this method, should work for any power, since all needed is enemy stronghold carrier, and each power probly gives mertis by killing enemy power ships, regadless of ethos they have. But its already confirmed within this thread, that other powers have diffrent SLF's, as imperials have GU-97's and feds have condors, and whenever my method is effective as in alliance it might depend whenever those other powers and kind of SLF's have utility, such as PD (wich would render my method much more slower) but yet to see it.

Thanks, cool approach although there is a catch, at least for me: I went to a hostile system with a Stronghold Carrier, and whilst all the contacts and carriers were from the hostile power, they were all showing as clean, then after a bit, I got attacked by a bunch of Vipers, and when I shot one, I got a bounty...

Ignore the ships, shoot the slfs.

You won't a bounty this way.

You will get a bounty for going agro at the carrier itself, which spawns the Taipans. However you don't get notoriety. It is a small bounty you can pay off at an administration contact. Even if you kill the other npcs, you don't rack up much bounty, in the 1000s cr.

After a bit of practice, I got over 6000 merits per run. Could do maybe 2-2.5 runs per hour if you're on it and hitting targets quickly.

Flying FA off is really good practice for me and I think it will really help with thargoid combat too :)

The missile build is much better and slicing through them, however, I think I will use a Python Mk2 though as it has 4 large and 2 medium hardpoints which should give more ammo.

I guess you found out like me that you can't reload the Concord Cannon?

Yes, its sad bug. Currently all of 20 cannons are stored up on storage ships, waiting for fix. Barely started engineering first few, and found it hard way. Synth does work, but reloading does not(rearm)... and worst is appears that some moddifications causes it, and planned to make all of them all Overcharged, with diffrent effects.

It's pretty weird, because sometimes it's possible to reload them at stations. It seems pretty random.

I managed to reload them at a stronghold carrier multiple times, but I have no idea whether or not the fact that the station was a stronghold carrier is relevant, or there is another trigger (like having to synth ammo at least once beforehand).

Didnt test it that much, out of 20 I buyed, I only got 2 of them up to grade 3 OC, and took it for quick test just outside of my FC, shoot couple of times, docked back, and could not rearm them (synth did work though). Decided to storage them until fix comes out, and not touch until.

I think we need more mission types and activities that could give merits. For example ground CZ's, that currently only give credits and faction reputation as reward. But also more mission types, not just restoration. You get sick of doing them over and over, when there are so many other fun options.

Weekly quests need to give you 1 level of xp as a bonus, to stimulate people logging in every week. The amounts of bonus merits for these is pathetic. If you want people to login every week, you gotta give BIG bonus. Also doing rares is perfect in a mandalay. So what gives brother. You cant sell your arx and eat it too.

Are powerplay conflict zones bugged? I'm pledged to archer and I'm in contested system that's over the threshold, but there are only regular conflict zones. I logged out into solo and private group a few times and I still haven't seen any. I went to another contested zone with my power, did the same, and saw none. I also double checked on INARA to make sure I was in the right systems and I am

Edit: I finally found a system that has powerplay conflict zones, LHS 1957. Not sure what's different about this contested zone.

Yes.

There are some conditions (I believe been reported) which may result in empty PCZs and related to 1) player's server side (NA have issues, EU not) and 2) presence of BGS wars in system.

The GRIND...the GRIND....it is real and it is unforgiving. This isn't supposed to be a job. I'm about 5 minutes from quitting PP2.0. I'm currently pledged to Pranav Antal to "try" to achieve the 30% bonus for exo. With the current weekly activities that fit my play stile, I figure that in about 7 years that I can reach level 100. Maybe by that time, ED will hit the 1% of systems discovered in the galaxy. I've been working on trying to find a way to make merits that is worth the effort put into it. I'm not into the combat, settlement raids or hacking billboards. I prefer exploration, exobiology, a little bit of trade and mining if I have to.

Rare Goods Trade - Spent 2 hours bouncing around over 300ly to collect rare goods and sell them in an "acquisition" system for Pranav...ZERO merits
Exobiology - Tried this for a third time. 27 samples (including First Footfall) = 1.6 billion credits & docked at Bentham Terminal in HIP 2725 ( Reinforcement / Fortified)...ZERO Merits
Carto-data - (Approx. 200 systems) and received merits ( Awarded 8060 Merits - Promoted from Lvl 7 to 11)
Mining - What can I say, it's mining and mind numbing scraping rocks and cracking eggs. I did make a few merits trying it out, but for everything that is holy, it is slow. I don't fully understand the whole mining map thing that commanders have mentioned.

I don't know...maybe I'll try something else.

Rare Goods Trade - temporarily disabled . Exobiology , Carto-data - it works, but it’s not clear how . Mining - good option, find a fortified system and mine platinum, sell in the same system

weekly tasks, battles in PP CZ and raids on settlements, mining - will bring the most merits per hour

Well spank me and call me Shirley...I just finish a Platinum mining run with a side hustle of Osmium...netted 80K merits. I think I found the way.
