Never done PP.
Can someone explain to me why the decoupling of government type and power is a good thing? I would imagine this as an additional tool in the PP player's arsenal, to get an edge on opponents.

In V1 Aisling and Zack had favourable gov types that made no sense.

It also means PMFs won't cause hassle as they expand either.

Mostly because a big part of our activity was dealing with tons of PMFs because of Powerplay, to get better triggers which are vital in current Powerplay. Trust me: we are more than happy to drop that part of the game to finally go against other Powers.

Well the pledge reset was very predictable. It's a new game, de facto, it only shares the name with old Powerplay.
Actually isn't - patch is called Ascendancy.
Also surprised that there will be only 1 new power - they have mentioned Kane.
But how about Jerome? Also it seemed that Zemina and gut from Utopia would get retired.

And that PP NPCs might finally attack rivals on sight. Lets hope they have lasers this time :D

That might turn some people off pledging though as it basically causes you problems in huge huge chunks of the bubble.

Imagine trying to do a CG or just some non-PP stuff, maybe meet up with a friend, but in a rival part of the bubble, and PP NPCs attacking you even if you're not doing PP related stuff. I remember when i last gave PP a try and this behaviour was enabled, i got attacked just trying to dock at a station, even though i had no PP stuff on me, no PP bonds, nothing.

PP and BGS have never really got on. You can have a faction pledged to a power (imperial / fed etc) but their government can be damaging to PP. You can get circumstances where you have an ally but they're restricted to movement because PP need their control spheres to have a good percentage of favourable governments.

Any thoughts on the PP 2.0 stream? Personally I thought it was a poor show and we're still no closer to what is going to happen.
I concur. A few of the basic answers were helpful, a few answers were disappointing (imo), a few more answers were bizarre, with nothing useful said outside of the fixed Q&A. Pity it wasn't as detailed as the other segments.

For PPv2.0 to be pushed out in only four weeks time... I sincerely hope that EDA is not going to be EDO Day1 all over again into and throughout 2025. Let's see🤷‍♂️

I believe the Galaxy is going to have a bigger scale of "political" dynamics... with frontlines changing regularly and a broader player base participation.

That also means for current poweplay communities they are changing from a "lead" stance to an "address" one... as it would be tough, if not impossible, to direct/focus of the power toward specific actions. More active sub-groups may even take over the leaderships and challenge them... civil wars, plots, betrayals, dopplegangers... interesting!

Considering the obsidianant video, we can say that this time Frontier covered almost every critical issue in Powerplay.
I am honestly happy. Almost thrilled. After almost 10 years of disappointment I can say: good job Frontier. It was a bit late, but at least you delivered.
