Power regulator from SRV?

I read that it was possible to get a power regulator from SRV. I found an SRV in settlement. It had two cuttable panels in the back but there was no PR.
How can I get a PR from SRV?

There was not that big round thing which pops to extract PR.

Don't bother, that only works consistently in the tutorial. You can get power regulators as mission rewards or you can take Restore/Reactivation missions (which supply you with one) and then abandon the mission to keep it. You will however take a reputation hit and have to pay a fine.

I know how to get PR/DPR from crashed ships. But that one was undamaged SRV in settlement. Do only crashed SRVs have PRs?

All of the PR's I was able to get were from damaged SRV's. I even tried to take the PR from my own SRV. Did not work.

FWIW, the access panel for an SRV is on the underside. You have to crouch and get under there if you can. The ones in the back ain't them.

Usually the power regulator in those are degraded anyway. But that's how you get one.

Did you look underneath it?

The chances are very remote that it would be a working Power Regulator though, so don't get your hopes up.

backs do not have regulator. Regulator slot is UNDER srv. You should sit and get under it.
Not all of them are in position so you could cut under.

Thats a shame. I'm guessing that if I have an empty srv bay I cant steal it, fly off and leave him wondering where it is, either then.

If you do that, the srv will explode (make sure you are not anywhere nearby) and it will turn from a slightly damaged srv into a charred black hull - no more underside panel, just the 2 in the backside

Anyway - the chances to get working PR from damaged SRVs (and also from crashed satellite at impact site) really slim but its not quite zero.
Once in a while i get one (there is a settlement layout with 3 SRVs - the one with PWR, STO and Hab buildings then at quite some distance 2 IND/Ext buildings)

But the most chances to get working PWR is from missions and from Distress Signals (usually there is a Sidewinder or an Eagle with 2 panels and rather high chances of getting a working PR)

The best way to farm power regulators in my experience is to find either an anarchy system or a system you don't give two monkeys about and start stealing them right outta bases.

It is. There was one mining settlement I reactivated a few times with an SRV that dropped a regulator about once every 4 trips. That was a nice bonus.

If you aren't on a restore mission, it's not 100%. Sometimes you'll find a degraded power regulator. Sometimes you can even find wrecked SRVs that you can't get to the correct hatch because they are half buried, but I haven't seen any of those in settlements.
