Power Usage

I have been playing around with different fittings for the vulture and I have come up with one that uses exactly 100% power available (15.60MW) with redundant modules set to lower priority when deploying weapons. Problem is, it doesn't work even though my modules panel says usage is 99% when I turn off the lower priority modules.

This leads me to believe that the actual usable power is 15.59MW, not 15.6MW, would this be correct?

not sure on that, last vulture I had was running at 102/3% and went to 99 when the priority 4 stuff shut down...

Was it exactly 15.60MW though?

The use of percentage with no decimal places in the module window is curious (annoying), just list the actual MW usage, or both, or allow that as an option. According to Elite shipyard its exactly 15.60MW, I have confirmed all modules in game are listing the correct power usage except the power distributor, it doesnt list this in game aside from the percentage in the module window, ES is using the figure from the wiki I assume.

The power consumption is rounded to the nearest whole number, so when it says 100% it may actually be 100.3% - or a module that shows as consuming 3% power may only be drawing 2.9%. Always aim to get down to 99% or lower.

It does say 99% but still no good, provided the usage for the power distributor is correct in Elite Shipyard its exactly 100%.

What are the percentages when you look at the modules screen in-game and deactivate the ones you're intending to de-prioritise in combat? You'll be able to see when the usage indicator drops out of the red.

There are rounding errors, or at least places not displayed, that lead to situations such as the one described.
The numbers you see are not precise.

Says 99% and not red (as if its all good) but when I deploy its no good. I disable another module that's only 1% and it works.

I'm probably telling you stuff you already know, so apologies if that's the case, if not it might be helpful:

With a vulture I could get my set up as I wanted, nearly... The fix for me was lowering the fsd priority in modules. Fsd and weapons were too big areas of drain but obviously can't both be used at the same time. This 'fix' does not need to be juggled every time you use the ship.

Probably still down to number rounding issues, but that's worth reporting as a bug. It shouldn't show as being within usage limits if it isn't.

Is your powerplant at full health? Any damage reduces output.

Can you post us your problem build with this:

Shipyard is spot on according to the outfitting screen so not a problem there. Ship is at full health.

It is showing 99%, but I have just noticed it does have the triangle exclamation mark at the bottom right.

So maybe it is 15.59MW not 15.60MW available or an If statement is slightly wrong, or there's more than 2 decimal places and my fitting is 15.601MW.

Seems to be a bug either way.
