PowerPlay 2.0: Who are you pledging to?

None. PP 2.0 is very disappointing. I do not see enough benefits, rather disadvantages & bugs which should have been fixed in a beta.

I tend to play on my own and never really wing up so I’m hoping I can get some confirmation one way or another on what I’ve read regarding trade bonds for Mahon.

Am I correct or incorrect in thinking Mahon’s 25% trade bond bonus (within his Power space) and 50% trade bonus for Rares only applies to trade made within a wing?
I think the implication is that you get the bonus as a trade bond (as if you were winged with Mahon?), rather than it being added directly onto the sale price of the goods, which could cause some very strange side-effects. You shouldn't need to be in a wing to get it, and if you were in a wing you'd presumably also get the separate 5% trade bond for that.

Thanks Ian. Since posting I’d managed to find out some more about trade bonds, never having taken a wing mission I’d no knowledge of them at all.

That makes far more sense than only offering a perk for Cmdrs when they’re in a wing (though you can never be too sure what FDev will come up with!) and obviously gets around messing up the economies of stations and systems by just tracking it onto the sales transaction - which I’ll admit is what had me so confused and left me thinking it was a Wing only perk.

Thanks for the clarity….and simple good sense.

So…still a little confused. What’s the difference between a bond and getting 25% extra selling a commodity?

If you get 25% extra directly on the sale price, then that also affects things like the BGS effects on state and influence, how many merits you might get for a sale, possibly even whether or not the sale counts as "40% profit" for the merit award at all.

If you get it as the bond it's the same amount of money to you but doesn't lead to weird balancing issues where Mahon's high-ranked pledges are getting 50% more merits for rares trades than everyone else is.

The bond is a separate "thing" you claim from a menu, where 25% extra money slapped onto the commodity market transaction would itself apply to normal wing trade bonds to make a kind of stacking bonus situation.

I have decided to chase down some Concord Cannons and joined Nakata, or so, lady. BUT I am going to restart my saved progress after my online friends unload the billions? maybe, 100s millions? of earnable credits waiting for them to take advantage of, on my FC. Heh, my private "help the new player" event to assist them in getting a head start in Elite.
